Animal Hybrid AU where cat!Jason is actual kitten size while everyone else is human size. He doesn’t grow out to be the biggest hybrid, can fit into your hand, but he can be mean (bites/nibbles on your fingers, scratches, tiny hissing). Jason’s animal form is a Rusty Spotted Cat and he’s the tiniest and cutest and Bruce can’t. He can’t, his son is so small, when he’s a bear, he needs to carry Jay in his mouth or he will get lost. He has a pocket in all of his suits that’s perfectly sized to fit his tiny son into. Bruce needs to protect him. He needs to.

Jay, unfortunately, never got a very good grasp on his transformations and sometimes when he changes - always when there’s no other option left, cause he hates being so small - it takes him a while to get back to human form and usually someone from the family will find him and care for him, no matter how much he tries to escape them. He’s just so small and Gotham is so big, they just have to...TAT Each time one of the Bats finds a pile of clothing and a red helmet unoccupied, they instantly switch gears into looking for the smallest cat. It’s instincts, they have to.

Bruce is terrible when Jay is a cat, but Dick is the worst. Dick will transform into his wolf form and plop Jay between his paws and start licking him to sleep - and it’s humiliatingly effective=_= Jay hates it. He’d rather take Bruce’s pocket than this indignity!

Batman #401, #402, & #403: Oh Jason

Just some wholesome pre-crisis Jason Todd moments!

In 401 Jason fights with the main bad villainess and accidentally rips her shirt and he’s SO EMBARRASSED ABOUT IT HE’S COVERING HIS FACE AND EVERYTHING

In 402 Batman has a heart-to-heart with Jason about his ‘no kill’ rule, which I find intriguing. This version of Jason is sort of a mix of post and pre crisis Jason Todd since these happen around or right after Crisis, but he doesn’t have the same angry streak as the official post-crisis version and never actually kills anyone that I know of. I like that Batman still gives him ‘the speech’.

And in 403 we learn Jason is a growing boy who needs late night snacks and sits adorably on tall chairs. Also, wholesome Bruce and Jason casual conversation about their double lives. I’m here for it.
