your tags on mrphamy/millamy are a mood! are you as confused as i am why the fandom has always been so obsessed with mrphamy? especially when nathan fucking miller was right there supporting bellamy throughout the entire show (aside from a hot minute in s5, but we don't talk about that). i've never understood the hype for mrphamy & never rlly wanted them to be friends. then s5 happened & they were suddenly family & at the start of s6 i kinda liked them but then 6x06 ruined them for me for good.
Personally, I never cared that much about the relationship between M*rphy and Bellamy, because there was never enough emotional weight in it for me. The only scenes I like between the two of them is the one in 2x04, where M*rphy holds Bellamy up as he goes down the cliff to save that girl — and the scenes in 6x02.
I was always indifferent to it. But I could see why people found the idea of a deeper friendship between them compelling (it was never canonically that deep, and M*rphy’s attitude in 6x06 only confirmed that)
Now, after 6x06, I can’t stand it.
M*rphy witnessed Bellamy grieve Clarke the first time on The Ring. He must’ve seen what it did to him; he knew how much she meant to Bellamy. That’s a fact, and it’s made clear to us when he tells Josephine, “If Bellamy knows Clarke is dead, then all of this is for nothing. You may as well kill us all now.”
And yet, he still decides that securing immortality for himself and Emori is far more important than comforting a grieving man who’s supposed to be his friend, who’s supposed to be part of his family. He basically tells Bellamy “She’s dead, man. Get over it. You better move on. The rest of us need to live,” and that’s fucked up. Not only that, but M*rphy even tries to manipulate him by saying that not going to war is what Clarke would’ve wanted, as if he ever gave a rat’s ass about Clarke or her wishes.
Miss me with that M*rphamy bullshit. M*rphy doesn’t deserve Bellamy’s friendship or loyality after that, to be honest.
Millamy, on the other hand? PERFECT (or... nearly perfect). Ever since that wonderful scene in 6x01 where Bellamy forgave him, Miller has made it clear where his loyalty lies. Did you see the way he glared at Josephine when she walked into the room? The way he glared at Russell? The way his face lit up like Bellamy’s when he said that Clarke was alive and that they were gonna get her back?
I love them, and they came back to me.
(Also, people ship M*rphamy romantically? I don’t understand that for the life of me when Miller, a canonically gay, black man is right THERE.)
