I know I've already made several posts about this, but I don't care. It's too important.
STOP REVIEW BOMBING EPISODE 7! STOP CUTGATE! IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIX THIS!
I THOUGHT CUTGATE SOUNDED REALISTIC YESTERDAY BUT I WAS JUST ANGRY AND NOT THINKING CLEARLY! PLEASE JUST OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKES AND FIX YOUR RATINGS ON IMDB! I KNOW THE COMING OUT SCENE WASN'T GOOD, BUT THIS IS ABOUT THE ENTIRE FUTURE OF QUEER REPRESENTATION! IT WAS A COMING OUT SCENE, EVEN IF IT WASN'T A GREAT ONE, IN THE BIGGEST SHOW IN THE WORLD, FROM THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE SHOW!
REVIEW BOMBING THE EPISODE WILL SEND THE MESSAGE THAT QUEER REPRESENTATION LEADS TO BAD RATINGS! IF COMPANIES HEAR THAT MESSAGE, THEY WILL GIVE US EVEN LESS THAN WE ALREADY HAVE!
I AM NOT BEING DRAMATIC! THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE! MR CLARKE'S ACTOR DEBUNKED CUTGATE, AND THE RATINGS ARE CONTINUING TO DROP ON EPISODE 7! WE NEED TO CORRECT THIS RIGHT NOW!
HAVE SOME INTEGRITY AND DO THE RIGHT THING!
Okay okay this needs to be said apparently!
1: Review bombing is PETTY and RIDICULOUS please stop???
2: Please don’t pay money to sign any petitions regarding cut scenes that you have NO EVIDENCE FOR???? Just because it seems likely does not mean it’s true? Wait for official news not some google doc that literally any fan could’ve written <- This has been proven to be FALSE do not spend money on it or further spread it. Actors have come forward to denounce this claim, there are no missing scenes.
3: Stop harassing the people behind the show!!! It’s not even over yet and you’re throwing homophobic shit at everyone! Admittedly, this is a Twitter problem (go figure) but it should be said like- we’re letting that slide???
What is this fandom doing? Are we actually going insane? Volume 2 was NOT THAT BAD- go rewatch it and calm down
If you’re mad about queerbait, I will be too, but WAIT UNTIL THE FINALE TO BE ANGRY?!!?! Why are we so mad? Nothing has been confirmed-
okay the cutgate shit is getting ridiculous and taking up my whole timeline on Twitter
im not defending netflix or the duffers when I say this, in fact I think it makes their case worse, but can we collectively realize that sometimes writers, directors, and companies fuck up a lot. they mess shit up. they bomb their shows.
we cannot blame this on a "mysterious volume 2 that wasn't released" because it takes away any ounce of accountability that the duffers mightve had. they're bad writers. they forgot one of their characters birthday for gods sake.
you guys are so quick to believe anything that seems remotely reliable online. I get it. I dont want to believe that my favorite show sucks now either. but thats the truth, it DOES suck now, and thats not because it was cut. its because the duffers aren't good writers.
also slither.io isnt on our side they're a company trying to market off you all thanks goodbye
I'm going to give my opinion on cutgate
First off, it's ridiculous.
Not only because NOBODY has the power to cut whole storylines once they finish editing the episodes, at best they can cut some scenes they think don't serve much purpose or they think are unnecessary to include for whatever other reason, but even then we're talking seconds of footage, A FEW MINUTES at best, and even then like i said, it happens way early in the production.
If Netflix wouldn't have approved of certain storylines, they would've said so even before the actors got the scripts and shut them down altogether, just the fact that they were acted, edited, and everything else tells you that they have been approved by Netflix, and once they do that, they have no power whatsoever to change that.
And no, it's not the same as cutting the bathtub scene from "13 reasons why", that was an extremely isolated case because the public itself thought the scene was too much to be on screen.
Also, stop review bombing episode 7/volume two because you think there's hidden footage and you think they're going to give it to you if you do, I don't know if you've realized but you're unconsciously siding with the same people that want queer representation gone from our screen by mass reviewing the same episode with a coming out scene 1 star.
And i say this as the biggest volume two hater.
Cutgate is literally just a cope because people are mad they didn’t get what they wanted. Yes, volume 2 sucked. But let’s use our brains for more than two seconds. A literal actor from the show came out debunking it. Yet there are people more willing to believe a random on twitter so they can live in their mind rather than facing the reality of the situation. You are believing a complete stranger with hardly any credibility over someone who has seen the script and actually worked on the show and has been working on it for a WHILE. Not only that, but there’s so much harm being done to the LGBTQ+ community. People are review bombing and now that’s being used to show that queer rep is bad for ratings. We still have one episode left and we don’t know how things are gonna play out. I’m just saying we shouldn’t immediately complain about things not happening when we still have time.
how the stranger things fandom got me feeling
LAST POST ON CUTGATE AND WHY I THINK IT'S BULLSHIT
my biggest evidence that cutgate isn't real is that there'd be no real reason for Netflix to cut half the stuff on that list.
I can see them cutting more insight onto Will's sexual trauma to keep the rating at a TV-14, but why cut most of that other stuff? Why cut Will and Max bonding? Why cut El and Mike saving Will?
I know Netflix is a money hungry greedy corporation, but they have to be cartoonishly evil to cut things that really didn't need to be cut.
I also find it a bit too convenient that a lot of the things cut on there are things people have wanted from s5 for years. People wanted madwise, people wanted a Mike and Will 1 on 1, etc.
Volume 2 was never going to have everything we've wanted. That's just a fact. And while volume 2 was really, really bad, thinking that there's practically an entire volume of shit cut out from volume 2 is a really bad look for the stranger things fandom as a whole.
One more thing, I really dislike that the blame has shifted from the duffers to Netflix. Guys. It doesn't matter if Netflix cut shit, the Duffers still suck at writing. The coming out scene was dog shit, and im sure it was always going to be dog shit regardless if Netflix cut things or not.
