This account on TikTok with the username @aastrobabe has been stealing contents from multiple astrology accounts here on Tumblr.

I haven't checked all of her posts yet, but it seems like almost all of them were stolen. She is claiming these posts as hers and it is beyond disrespectful to the owners.

The username is @aastrobabe on TikTok. She has 17.5K followers as of writing, feeding them contents that are not hers at all.

PLAGIARISM IS DOWNRIGHT UNETHICAL, AND CAN BE A CRIME. Have shame stealing other people's work and claiming it as your own.

HELP PLEASE - UPDATED W/ LINKS

Just now, someone was kind enough to let me know that two of my most popular fics, Off Limits and Distant, have been translated into Spanish and posted on Wattpad without my knowledge or permission.

I DON'T EVEN HAVE A WATTPAD ACCOUNT!

Dumb question probably, but what do I do? Please advise!

Hey guys.

So it was just brought to my attention that one of my works was stolen and posted to Wattpad.

It was literally a cut and paste of one of my absolute favorite stories, my first real foray into long, plot driven fics, and I’m so pissed.

I have already reported them for copyright infringement but if y’all can also report I would very much appreciate it. I also encourage my fellow writers to check their page and make sure they haven’t stolen anyone else’s stories.

How to find out if your story has been stolen:

Copy a paragraph from your work. Make it something relatively unique to the story. Three or more lines is best.

Paste it into Google and hit search. You can also add site:tumblr or site:wattpad for example on the end to search for specific locations.

Anywhere that exact "code" statement is uploaded will show up as a search result.

I also HIGHLY encourage authors to do a weekly or monthly browse of Wattpad, especially looking at works titled "One-Shots, Imagines, Collections," ect. Users often group the stolen works as individual chapters, which makes them hard to find.

I also very much recommend that everyone sends Wattpad a feedback report (you do not need an account, just make up a username when it asks) and report that you'd like Wattpad to adjust their DMCA and plagiarism process so that anyone can file a report providing sufficient evidence. OR that you don't need an account to file a report, only sufficient evidence.

It's happening across Teen Wolf, BTS, Good Omens, Supernatural and every other fandom right now. Over 2million words worth of fic was reported this week so far.

Unfortunately this plagiarizing fanfiction stuff keeps happening across various platforms but mostly authors from tumblr or ao3 getting their work posted on wattpad without permission and I can’t believe people still do that in 2021.

Got a heads up message from a reader that someone copied Ragdoll. So I looked. Holy shit. Literally cut and pasted the first two chapters, in their entirety.

But see it's okay because this person intends to add to the story and change the ending! Oh and somehow she has the entire fic but not my name but she was totes gonna "credit" me guys. If only she could figure out who the original author is! because it's terribly difficult to search exact phrases!

Hey there! I was wondering if you could tell me how you have right clicking disabled for your blog to ensure your writing isn't plagiarised. I'd like to do the same for my blog since Ik this is huge issue. It was brought to my attention recently that a lot of fanfiction writers add a copyright statement at the top or bottom of their work and I'm considering doing the same. Any advice?

Hey!! I'm glad you asked! There seems to be a rise in plagiarism issues nowadays and no one can be safe. In my opinion, adding a copyright statement either at the top or bottom of your fic is also great! It serves as a warning for others to not copy your work, but the thing is, they can still simply copy and paste the whole fic even with the copyright statement. So adding one in your fic is optional.

However, I think a better way to prevent someone from copying your works is to disable right-clicking or simply disable the highlight feature.
