Posted @withrepost • @graemepurdy Time for more bears. Different colour this time as I head off to Alaska to hang out with Grizzlies. Being there with my good friends @davesandford and @drewhh guarantees a great and I’m sure it will go all too quickly. Long days, hard work and many laughs along the way. Alaska is such an iconic destination for any lover of nature and wildlife and for me a bucket list place to visit. Capturing grizzly images that have impact will be difficult as so many great photographers have brought us a plethora of great images over the years. So I’ll be using my experiences to try and get up close with the bears and attempting something different. I’m not sure if my excitement outweighs my nerves. Natural System: Global Warming

There were times I’m wondering how far our mother earth can hold us. Bob Brown once said “The future either be green or not all”. In observing our current condition I don’t really think if we can have a green future.

One, two, three steps in the ground at 8 o’clock in morning your skins covered with fire, sweating a thousand cup of sweats saying can’t do this anymore. That’s how hot our environment right now. Why? Why? Why? When I compared today in the past I really see a big difference, the green leaves turning in to brown, the blue sea turning black and the disciplined people, there’s only few.

Four, five and six riding in the tricycle going to my destination. Trucks, cars and factories creating a bunch of smoke covering my whole world. “Am I still with you?” you hold my hands and pull me from the tricycle saying “Ading tay pletem nakadanun ka sango High Schoolen.” The impact of environment is a huge rock following me like the dinosaur in the Jurassic Park and I don’t know how to get out in that place.

Seven, eight, nine meters from the door to my sit, I enter in the class room seeing my classmate waiting. I close my eyes and suddenly my hands covered with ice that make me feel cold. I opened my eyes and I saw a mother educating her stubborn sons and daughters on how to maintain their house. I turned around I realized that I was just imaging and the mother I saw is our teacher and stubborn sons and daughters are my classmate not listening to the topic. One thing pop up to my mind, our mother earth tried to help us to have a greater future but look what we did to her.

Ten minutes later, a thousand thoughts flooded the room to solve to the problem global warming like a thousand typhoons flooded the entire country to make people realize that they were wrong. I never realized that we can think a lot of solutions to prevent global warming but we never did it. What we did is to continue destroying our environment and not thinking what could be the future of the next generation. Let’s start something and gain everything.

Back in February 2016 I had the opportunity to do an ice cave tour with @south_east_iceland at the Vatnajökull national park in Iceland. This ice cave tour was one of the most amazing things I got in front of my lens so far and this picture has become my most favourite one since then. Today I saw a picture Siggi @south_east_iceland posted. I recognized immediately that the place of his picture was the cave I've been to due to its unique colour and shape. The second picture he posted showed the exact same view a few days ago in the current situation. I was curious, because I knew from his tellings that it's a normal thing that glaciers do melt in the summer and grow back in the winter, so I asked him if this is a normal behavior or if it's caused by something else. He answered that the only cause for this is global warming and that this won't be fixed by nature in hundreds of years! To me this was the first time I got in direct contact with the effects of climate change. It's an oppressive experience to see it first hand and not just by tellings or documentaries. I only can ask everyone to start taking actions in pretending our beautiful nature in every possible way if you aren't already.
