30 Days to Earth Hour! It’s 30 days to Earth Hour! This year’s Earth Hour happens on Sat 28 March at 8:30PM, wherever you are. My wife and I have participated in Earth Hour since 2013 and it has become an annual family affair for us and our two kids. Beyond the symbolic lights-off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, we try to make sustainable choices in our daily life, recycling, reusing and reducing whenever possible. We are also inspired by people all over the world who take actions to protect and conserve our planet, from choosing sustainably grown food to using less plastic to petitioning for legislation against wildlife trade, or even marching in the streets to pressure governments for action against climate change. In spite of the somber forecasts by climate scientists, we remain hopeful that sustained and combined effort from everyone will make a difference in the future well-being of our planet. To quote the words of polar explorer Robert Swan, "The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it." In other words, don’t wait for someone else to do it. Do something small now, then do something else, then something else, then get people around you to join you! I'll be sharing a countdown to Earth Hour in my instastory. Natural System: Global Warming

There were times I’m wondering how far our mother earth can hold us. Bob Brown once said “The future either be green or not all”. In observing our current condition I don’t really think if we can have a green future.

One, two, three steps in the ground at 8 o’clock in morning your skins covered with fire, sweating a thousand cup of sweats saying can’t do this anymore. That’s how hot our environment right now. Why? Why? Why? When I compared today in the past I really see a big difference, the green leaves turning in to brown, the blue sea turning black and the disciplined people, there’s only few.

Four, five and six riding in the tricycle going to my destination. Trucks, cars and factories creating a bunch of smoke covering my whole world. “Am I still with you?” you hold my hands and pull me from the tricycle saying “Ading tay pletem nakadanun ka sango High Schoolen.” The impact of environment is a huge rock following me like the dinosaur in the Jurassic Park and I don’t know how to get out in that place.

Seven, eight, nine meters from the door to my sit, I enter in the class room seeing my classmate waiting. I close my eyes and suddenly my hands covered with ice that make me feel cold. I opened my eyes and I saw a mother educating her stubborn sons and daughters on how to maintain their house. I turned around I realized that I was just imaging and the mother I saw is our teacher and stubborn sons and daughters are my classmate not listening to the topic. One thing pop up to my mind, our mother earth tried to help us to have a greater future but look what we did to her.

Ten minutes later, a thousand thoughts flooded the room to solve to the problem global warming like a thousand typhoons flooded the entire country to make people realize that they were wrong. I never realized that we can think a lot of solutions to prevent global warming but we never did it. What we did is to continue destroying our environment and not thinking what could be the future of the next generation. Let’s start something and gain everything.
