Pre-Hollow, they stocked up and hunkered down in a place that wouldn't get flooded if it poured rain. Sometimes they would even take shelter with other small mammals like squirrels, rabbits or mice.

After first moving into the Hollow, they used to take shelter with Nan in her house. But when she passed they had to fend for themselves once again.
