"Super Typhoon Goni (known locally as Rolly) made landfall on 1 November, bringing 140mph winds and torrential rainfall, and became the most powerful storm to hit the country since Typhoon Haiyan (2013). Hundreds of thousands of people have evacuated their homes. The first town hit by Goni is said to have lost 90% of its homes – and with communications down, the true scale of the damage is still emerging. Tropical Storm Astani (known locally as Siony) is also approaching the region, due to make landfall on 5 November. Hopes remain that the storm will alter its path, but on its current trajectory it could batter communities already on their knees."

The storm of the millennium is coming, & you unlucky to have found ourselves on an island city, with all the boats already gone. With 36 hours to prepare & the party & multiple people in the city unprepared for what’s to come, can the party buckle down & survive the storm, or be swept away by it’s winds.

Wx Wind Warning.. again?

70km/hour! at least it’s a Southeasterly- which is our ‘usual’ wind direction for big storms.  Now I'm grateful i didn’t get out and clean up yesterday’s disaster.

Yesterday’s Westerly gusting 70 for HOURS made a complete mess of the yard and garden. things that are usually stable/safe were thrown up against the neighbour’s fence. the deer fencing came down. Entire potted plants were tipped over.

Still here- despite the relentless Westerly Gail that’s been howling and raging all day. The ‘wind-warning’ has ended.. except for Right Here.

The garden is a complete shambles- pots full of soil and plants knocked over.. entire patio table up against the neighbour’s fence. Deer fence blown down and broken and irrecoverably tangled.  I couldn’t even face the mess today. there was no way to secure anything, so I’ll just have to hope there’s something left growing when it blows out.

Are we about to live through a disaster movie? Superstorm created in real life by two minor storms that merged? Way to go 2020. Not done messing with us I guess.
