As I worked away in the office today I could hear the wind picking up pace and felt the sun fade away. I got out for a walk at morning tea. It was breezy and chilly. I was busy at lunchtime so no walk and no lunch in the gardens today. I did get a walk to another office in the afternoon but my step count was very low by home time. As I walked to the car I noticed the sun was back and the wind was gone just in time for my run. Despite all that sunshine the beach was pretty empty, just a few hardy folk in the water and some walkers and of course dog walkers. I enjoyed my run down the beach and once home I took some time to sit in the sun and count butterflies before picking some flowers and collecting the fallen passionfruit. Then inside to foam roll and stretch these very inflexible old legs.

After taking pictures of all the grand monuments from the previous century, saw this humble marker and had to find out:
Who is Victor Bakhtin?
don’t except shitty substitutes, dudes.
I saw these flowers at a local cut flower farm and fell in love with them. They are called straw flowers and feel exactly like straw or plastic. Nature is amazing. I’m told that they dry exactly as you see them. Definitely grabbing some of these seeds for the mixed borders next year. Magical.
Straw flowers.

These Straw Flowers have been so pretty in the summer garden. Time to pick and dry some for some winter cheer.
we have turned the corner into the golden days of summer. the tomatoes are ripening at last after the drought we’ve had. there are bright red leaves sitting quietly in the yard.
