“you were a blonde?? aw, johnny.” vera says with a Cheshire grin, trying to picture him with a hair color similar to her own. she thinks he’d look better like that, but she might just be biased. “what made you change it? we’d look so fuckin’ alike if you were still yellow haired and bright eyed.”

Johnny was taken by surprise by her comment. He didn’t know she knew about that particular bit of his life... Only Rogue and Kerry remembered he was a blond, and even then, only Kerry really remembered those days. The Rockerboy sighed, took off his aviators and shrugged. 

“Yeah. I was blond. And lemme tell you, V. I was smokin’ hot as a blond, better lookin’ than you, that’s for sure.” Sarcasm and mean comments were second nature to him now, but he knew she knew it was all bluster and he didn’t really mean it. After all, he’d shared most of his secrets with her, given her his dog tags as proof. Now, that second question, it was a hell of a question. He knew she would know if he was lying, their... Connection ran much deeper now, he got flashes of her early life and her mood so he assumed she got the same thing on his end. So, for once, he’s being honest.

“I uh... I had it changed after Alt. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror, y’know V? By the time I was ready to blow up ‘Saka Tower I had already changed it, I remember Spider commenting on my hair that night. Spider had cut her braid too...” A lot more details were coming back to him, he remembers Smasher almost killing Shaitan, he remembers... 

Death. Being split in half by Smasher, falling to the ground, a surprised look on his face, the Malorian still smoking in his Fist. It only took a second. Johnny shook his head to drive those memories away. He didn’t need them right now and he was sure as shit that V didn’t need them either, she had enough on her plate without adding the pain of being split in half by a shotgun. He let out a laugh at her comment, a bit mocking but appreciative at the same time. “Please, as if I’d want to look like a merc who can’t style for shit. If anything, you’re rocking the Original Silverhand look! And I gotta say, you’re rocking that style.”

    Losing my shit because I’m talking with @streetknown about the intricacies of V and Johnny’s relationships across all the different V’s and then that helped me realize that

          "ah, c'mon Kid..." Viktor's tone is soft, voice rumbling like the cascade of a slow motion rockslide. He leans back on his stool to stretch out the bend of his knees, pretending his grimace is about creaking joints (and not about V herself). "...Being nice t'you isn't a hardship. Not t'me."

          The ripperdoc reaches next to where V sits and fiddles with a dial on his ancient radiobox, scanning past the usual staticky station with its boxing match reviews to settle on Royal Blue Radio, and the murmuring throb of jazz turned down low. Vik nods to himself, seeming satisfied, the pinched corners of his mouth softening slightly.

         "And you're not 'just' anything." He adds, lofting eyebrows daring her to state otherwise. "-- So what if you bring trouble? You think I haven't been shoveling trouble off my doorstep since before I hung up my gloves?"

        Something stubborn takes up residence in the physician's expression, a mulish jut to his chin, "With everything that's happened... with Jackie, and..." Exhaling an explosive breath, Vik cuts himself off, crossing his arms over his chest in a bid not to say more than he intends, "... Well. Here's what I know. We only get so much time, V...."

dum dum's head snaps to the side, the angry red glow of his optics fixating vera behind him. his upper lip twitched a little, showing his teeth like a WARNING.

" BITE and i'll personally rip your fucking jaw off, princess. now get to it. "

his gaze drops again as he looked forward, optics stubbornly locked with the wall in front of him. he was never going to ask for vera's help AGAIN when he had issues with his synth-spine. he couldn't reach it himself and he barely made it to her apartment, so a ripperdoc was out of the question as well. she just had to fix dum dum up enough so he could at least WALK again.

" maybe try not tearing out my 'ware with your claws. MAYBE i'll stop moving, then. ",

he adds, mostly because he was just frustrated with the situation than being actually disappointed with her work. dum dum would be in a crappy mood either way, no matter if he'd be seeing a professional or someone he scooped up off the side of the road for his PROBLEM.

surprisingly enough, octavio wasn't a HUGE fan of lethal violence towards others. himself, as long as it was self-inflicted and the cameras were rolling? no big deal to the stuntman. but be out actively to hurt someone else, let alone kill them, that was something he'd never get used to on night city's STREETS, he imagines.

huffing out a breath of air, he brings up his hands to feel for his optics; his HUD already told him there was major damage that needed attention, but octavio just didn't know WHERE it was. that is, until he realized he was able to pry almost half of his optics off of his skin with a thumb alone, revealing flesh and blood below, followed by a searing pain in the sockes where his eyes used to be. the daredevil hissed in a sharp breath, then pressed that metal part of his optics back onto his face. okay, maybe this was worse than expected.

through what little he could see through the emergency messages on his hud, he reached for vera's arm, squeezing it. there was a slight panic in his body language, but he still seemed unnaturally calm for someone in his situation.
