Mononoke No Kuni BitSummit PUNCH trailer, screenshots - Gematsu
Publisher Happinet and developer Studio Lights have released a new trailer for Mononoke No Kuni as part of BitSummit PUNCH, which runs from May 22 to 24 at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, Japan.
A demo of the game is currently playable at the event, featuring major improvements from the game’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 demo, including a new free camera, rebuilt environments, additional exploration and growth systems, and mini-games with the player’s Shiba Inu companion.
Here is an overview of the game, via Happinet:
About
Mononoke No Kuni sends players on a heartfelt journey to save their beloved lost companion. Travel across a charming yokai world inspired by Japanese folklore to confront lost souls and purify them in battle as protagonist Taiki and his adorable puppy companion Musashi. Engage in satisfying parry-based combat, play a variety of mini-games, and meet all kinds of curious and unique mononoke residents in an emotionally captivating story about a boy and the deep bond he shares with his dog as they challenge their fates.
Key Features
Discover a World of Painted Beauty – Explore the Mononoke Realm, a land where myths and yokai abound. Each region is brought to life with a painterly art style and has its own distinct landscapes and atmosphere, creating a strange yet mesmerizing experience.
Bond with Musashi – Musashi, the player’s adorable Shiba Inu companion, once perished in the human world and must now fight to survive as a divine being. Work together to purify the yokai that threaten this land. When exhaustion sets in, take a moment to rest and bond with him. No matter what dangers await, as long as you’re together, nothing is impossible!
Meet the Mononoke – Encounter unique mononoke such as Nekomata, the cat spirit, Gama, the frog, Komi, the fox, and Mujina, the tanuki. Forge bonds with them, seek their aid, and battle against fearsome yokai to collect the sacred relics that will save Musashi. The mononoke you meet each have their own sorrows, memories, and reasons for becoming lost. Assist them with Musashi by your side!
Battle Ferocious Yokai – Confront yokai burdened by sorrow, regret, and hatred, to cleanse them through purification battles with Musashi’s divine powers. The accessible combat employs a parry system to deflect enemy attacks and even send projectiles back at them. Choose how to strengthen the main character with new abilities, creating opportunities for different playstyles, and team up with Musashi during battle to receive healing and buffs.
Mononoke no Kuni is due out for PC via Steam this fall. A playtest is currently available.

Gematsu Source
Studio Lights, a Shinjuku-based studio that worked on the environment lighting and cutscene lighting for both Final Fantasy XVI and Forspoken, has announced “isekai action RPG” Mononoke no Kuni. It will launch for PC via Steam in spring 2024, with plans to also release on PlayStation, Switch, iOS, and Android. A specific PlayStation platform was not announced.
