| tips are for high school freshmen |
Do not fall into a popularity contest! I promise by the time you’re a senior, everyone is thinking about graduation, college, life after high school, scholarship deadlines, and just moving on!
Enjoy it! Go to the dances, the homecoming parade, do the class bonding activities, do it al! Even if you do it alone, just do it! It is so nice and they are memories that will last a lifetime!
Don’t slack off. I am sure if you attend a freshmen orientation you will hear the phrase, “Think of this as a fresh start!” and it really is true! Freshmen year may not “matter” as much as junior year, but all the A’s/B’s/C’s you earn, add up and they matter. They really do matter, and they add up, especially when it comes to your senior year!
Be open, yes I know a 14 year old and an 18 year old can be vastly different, but if you have an open approach, it can make it a much better experience, and it can give you an entirely different outlook!
Try and befriend an upperclassmen or two! I know a lot of them will have a negative look on you because you are a freshmen, but they are not all like that! It’s always nice to have someone to show you where a class is or a class to avoid if at all possible!
Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself! Try out a woodshop class, try out an AP/IB class, if you think you can do it, then go for it!
2/1/18 | 9:15 am- Woke up at 6 am, missed my 7 am kickboxing class, headed to the gym instead and grabbed breakfast. Now I need to write my daily to-do list. I have one class today at 12:30 and after, I’m spending the entire day at the library. (That was just so all over the place my b)
