hi everyone! hope you all had a lovely holidays :) these are some of the books i got for christmas- plus a book for lit that i’ve started annotating. holidays are slipping away so fast! looking forward to lots more reading and beach time though

i just finished reading my first murakami book, “after dark”. i really enjoyed it and the way it managed to capture the feeling/mood of time in the middle of the night. the next murakami book i’ll read is “norwegian wood”, which i have heard great things about! finally i’ll read “kafka on the shore” to really get into murakami’s magic realism. i already want to buy more of his works!

does anyone have a favourite murakami book? leave a reply and let me know what it is and why!

Zoomester Studyblr Challenge: Day 13

13) Tell us the most eye-opening book you’ve read.

I once read, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide and it was incredible. It took real-lie instances of oppression, stories from real women, and then talked about the issues at length, plus possible solutions. It was beautifully written and so informative. It is so sad and shocking to see issues I could never dream of seeing here in the USA be so prevalent elsewhere. It hurts, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Not in the two years since I’ve read it. This is one non-fiction book that I would 100% recommend to anyone.

December 22nd- Book of the Month

Hello all!

Gee I’ve had a busy month. I actually read this book back in November, but didn’t get a chance to share it until now.

I really loved this book. To be honest, I didn’t love the character of Mr. Rochester. However, Jane is just amazing and I think the book is really powerful and beautiful.

I’d highly recommend this book! It was written in a unique and captivating style (the fourth wall is broken a few time where Jane directly addresses you which I love) and it made me reflect on myself a bit as well.

I’ll make another post with some quotes for the book soon so keep an eye out!
