Back on my thing about Bolaire being an accidental parental figure to Julien

So you know how parents have the ability to tell their kids or pets are up to some bullshit? Bolaire doing that

Bolaire is sitting downstairs peacefully reading. Then he sits up abruptly and slams his book shut before yelling upstairs "Julien what are you doing?"

Julien, who was, in fact, Up To Some Bullshit: "...nothing"

"Julien get your ass down here before I drag you down myself"

"this house is a FUCKING nightmare!"

Yes, and he always laughed at Hal when they would be sitting down relaxing and suddenly the kitchen would go quiet and he'd stand up and go to see what mischief Alogar and Shadia had gotten into now.

Oh how the shoe is on the other foot now and Julien is worse than all three kids put together.

On the plus side Bolaire can delegate some of the "go check on Julien" to Azune.

I need Bolaire to go batshit on somebody

He's almost always so composed and he seems like the type to verbally tear someone apart rather than physically, but I feel like it'd be so fun to see him have to be dragged away from someone so he doesn't get several murder charges with blood on his face and snarling insults and threats

Not sure what would set him off though...

He needs the chance to go feral and have people remember that he's not just the quirky curator... he is a weapon built to kill a GOD.

And honestly? It's probably someone going after Hero. Like any of Hal's family would set him off but if Hero particularly, who was the first of her siblings to call him 'uncle', the only one who was truly a child when Bolaire's come into their dad's / their lives.

Bolaire was designed to love his siblings... how much more fierce love does he have for his niblings?

Two, Bolaire who accidentally becomes a parental figure to Julien and it doesn't click for either of them until way after

Picture a quiet scene, Julien is tired and Bolaire does something for him, like grabbing him a drink. And without thinking about it, says "Thanks Dad".

Julien of course, starts looking for the nearest hole in the ground to dive into and never crawl out of because that was utterly embarrassing, he called him dad.

Cut to Bolaire sitting in Hal's room, maybe a little happier than normal, going "he called me dad!"

Great weekend, very relaxing. :)

Julien will hide forever, he doesn't even call his own dad 'dad'... it's Father or General.

Bolaire kicking his feet a little, not unlike the the three days, the first two months apart, the last almost a year later, when he got his first 'Uncle Bolaire' from Hero, Shadia, and finally from Alogar, not that long before he left to train with the Barrow-gaurd.

A thing cannot create.

He had created family.

This is a little stupid, but I've probably sent worse

Julien is actually short (compared to everyone else in the party, Julien is average height, like 5'7 everyone else is just 5'11+) but he constantly wears tall/heeled shoes and his hair adds a good inch

After a fight, Julien disappears to go deal with all the blood he's probably covered in, and comes out with his hair wet and barefoot and is a noticeable few inches shorter than everyone else except for Murray

Not stupid at all, in fact i have firmly integrated this into my headcannon.

I kinda love the idea that people in world have this general idea that height wise it's Occtis shortest, then Azune, then Julien tallest, and in reality if you toss them all in a bath and have them stand up straight it's the exact opposite.

Kattigan is a big advocate for Floor Time™. If you need him, you can be damn sure he's on the floor somewhere with Wulfric

This has led to problems when the floor he's laying on is in a hallway or door

This is why he makes friends with Paladins, so there's always someone nearby to heal him when he gets stepped on.

Somehow it is always him, never Wulfric.

He also somehow convinces Azune (it doesn't take much, you know how much he looks up to Kat) that it's very good for your muscles and then then people walk in and both of them are like... on their backs, legs straight up against the wall.

Wulfric is licking Azune's ear.

This would be less of a problem if there were pants involved.

Winged Wic who often forgets just how big his wings actually are.

Cause in my mind, they're big. Like really fucking big. Like twice as long as he is tall when fully stretched out sorta big. And he hasn't had them long, he's not used to having these giant things strapped to his back

So I'm picturing him accidentally flexing them or turning a bit too fast and smacking someone in the face. Of course he feels apologetic, everyone else thinks it's funny as fuck (when it's not happening to them of course)

He does however learn he can smack someone for being annoying and usually get away with it if he says sorry and sounds pathetic enough. Usually.

Yes, and I think they have a bit of a mind of their own? Like he tries to keep them tucked down and folded but he gets excited or scared and they're up again. Or he's just stretching them and smack into Julien's face.

He hasn't hit Thimble yet because she's so fast and even though she is Not A Wick Fan she honestly has the most sympathy, and is glad her own wings don't extend so far from her body.

She invents a game called "whack a pixie" where she darts all around him and he tries to hit her with a wing to learn control. He can't manage often yet, she's so small and fast, but when he does she goes FLYING, the feathers keeping the blow from hurting so it's like being shot from a very soft slingshot and she LOVES it like her own private rollercoaster.

Occtis doesn't know how to comfort people, so his main tactic is just dropping Pin on the upset peoples lap

Azune doesn't put two and two together. Starts to carry a small comb. Pin gets a very enjoyable little grooming session whenever he wants and it becomes a Preferred Nap Spot.

Hal is weak to puppy eyes. Give him any version of it and he will crumple fast. When his kids were still young, he had to make Thaisha be the "mean parent" because he would give them whatever they wanted if they tried hard enough

This trait has persisted and once his boys learn about it, they are exploiting the hell out of it
