Just to show you how stupid I am for this Pokemon, here's Salazzle though the ages of my digital art progression.
Almost makes you think it's my favorite. It's not, but it's close.
So after re-doing Salazzle again like someone who can't let things go, I decided to put together a little "how we got here" to show just how hard I refuse to let things go.
Think I got better at not only using colors, but making them less eye-searing to look at, and if anyone ever has some pearls to toss my way, I'm always open.
Happy 2025, we got lizards.
I like how you draw Pokémon, like you can tell what they are obviously yet they are super stylize. Your Eevee could honestly be considered legally distinct from the real one lmao. If you made a children's book with it and didn't call it Eevee the Nintendo ninjas wouldn't bat an eye.
Haha, thanks. My Eevee has definitely evolved into something that isn't quite an Eevee anymore. I've considered retroactively declaring her to be an OC, but then I'd have to do the hardest thing of all... come up with a new name.
The reason for the look goes back to the beginning. I've seen that a lot of aspiring artists work on their skills for awhile and then decide "I need a style now", but I kinda did it the other way around.
See, I got into drawing animals and Pokemon when I was in high school. I was drawing with a pen on the backs of worksheets and in notebook margins during class. Since I didn't have any references to work with, I was more concerned with drawing something that looked decent than something that looked accurate.
When I got to college, I was finally able to look things up online as I drew them (and also use a pencil with an eraser), but by that point my drawings had already developed their own personality. If I started drawing my Eevee like the official art... well, she wouldn't really be my Eevee anymore. So instead I've just kept polishing up my old school notebook style.
Did that art style timeline thing, plus a more detailed version bc it's fun 🌟
Redraw of my mlp oc from 2014, back when I was a freshman in highschool. Boy was that a sad time
