Ahkmou and Gavla arrive in Su-Magna and find themselves unprepared for its culture.

This an all-Ahkmou and Gavla chapter, first one ever since the Mahri made their debut. It still wound up at nearly 7000 words long! I actually had to cut it down a bit because I realized a conversation was redundant. I don't know why, but plasma is probably tied for my favorite Bionicle element alongside Plantlife/ Green/ Flora.

MOCtober: Day 8

Benkin was proud... that had been his mistake. True, he’d built a successful business as a mask maker on Xia—one of the only Matoran to ever do so—but he was sure that Metru Nui was where the real money was. He’d heard stories of immigrants being held up in some kind of camp, yes—but he was a craftsperson, and not one of those twisted freaks from the continent. Selling almost everything he owned, the Su-Matoran took passage on a trading ship bound for the city. It had to make a stop at the border for customs, of course... but when the Suuvahk came aboard and saw the ship was carrying passengers, they were all detained in Penat Nui.

Benkin might have been fine—if he hadn’t brought his mask-making equipment with him. The distinction between tool and weapon was lost on the robotic enforcers, and once he was tagged as “hostile,” getting an audience with Judrin to plead his case became nearly impossible. And so, rather than living his dream, Benkin found himself in the middle of his worst nightmare: making cheap replacement masks for the other refugees just to scrape by.

I was about to make a headcanon about Matoran’s eyes and heartlights being made out of plasma until I realized how disturbing that is since Su-Matoran exist and probably work in plasma factories
