Help I just watched subspace rhapsody for the first time. What the fuck. Why is it GOOD. I have all systems stable stuck in my head. Why can Spock and La’an canonically sing WELL. Chapel breaks up with Spock THROUGH SONG. Get jazz musical numbered idiot. Pike’s horror throughout the whole thing. The fact that Una’s song reflects the kind of music she likes. Incredible episode 10/10 no notes I need more.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody
There are so many bizarre and delightful and hilarious things about this episode, but I am never getting over the fact that Pike was so stressed out about telling Marie that her idea for a dirty weekend getaway didn't appeal to him that he literally falls to his knees and does the classic 90s boyband "reaching hands of raw emotions" gesture.
He can handle knowing he's going to experience SCP level body horror in under a decade and he still gets up and goes to work, but he can't tell his situationship "actually I don't want to go to Space Ibiza, can we choose something else?"
Mind boggling, I love it. Absolutely wild sense of priorities.

This episode has a lot of fun (like the marvellous word play behind Spocks solo number "I'm the X"/"I'm the Ex"; flawless, no notes), but to me nothing beats those twenty eight perfect seconds of Klingon Boy Band Extravaganza.

Especially the comment about Sam Kirk truly has a point (plus I learned some Sam Kirk behind-the-scenes fun fact; nice!).
"The road to ruin is paved by the intentions of fools" is such a beautiful line and it came from the Star Trek musical.
