Thanks for such a pleasant answer! (I was kinda scared of backlash) I'm def not neurotypical. At the very least I have anxiety, but I kinda don't like to admit to how neurodivergent I am, even to myself. I especially related to that post that was going around about the "abnormal" autistic traits or w/e it was.
No problem!! I’m always super happy to get asks about this kind of stuff because it’s one of my special interests, and I super love helping people find themselves and see what applies to them and reassuring them that their neurotype is amazing, no matter what it is :)
But yeah, that’s a big post! My aunt sent that list of Atypical Traits to me when I was in high school and that was when it first got into my head that I might possibly be autistic. It’s one of those things that is just swept under the rug so much so a lot of people are stuck not realizing that it applies to them!
And if a lot on that list sounded close to home for you, you might have Sensory Processing Disorder or at least Sensory Sensitivities. Just being aware that that’s a thing for you can make life easier, since you know what to look out for.
If you’re looking for words to help form your identity, ‘autistic-cousin’ might be helpful. lots of neurodivergent people who share autistic traits but don’t necessarily meet all the criteria for autism use it. of course, no pressure or anything! just throwing things out there :)
My inbox is always open so if you want to talk or have any questions or anything like that, I’m always really excited to help out!
