The penultimate set from the Book of Days volume 4 as August comes up an end and after my life saving trip to Seahouses. I was more awake and in the mood to feel creative but had still run out of new things to draw so was making new prints - these are reflected in other sketchbooks but one answer when I did draw was sometimes to fill gaps by drawing more than one thing a day if I did find new things to draw. The first two are drawn of the same subject in the same afternoon and then the next three were also from the same day. The first two were listening to meditation talks in my headphones while sitting on a garden chair out in the grounds of Minster Court drawing the roots of the big tree outside our flat. The shapes of the roots above ground were beautiful and worthy of recording. After this Richard has offered to drive us to Freshfields beach to get some fresh air. We went safely with windows down and masks and spent a rare few happy hours in the company of friends walking the dog through the forest and along the beach. The third drawing is sitting facing the water which was hidden by the backs of the dunes - the fourth @owens449 and @elshaaaaa sitting resting among the trees. I love the dapple between trees and often try to visualise it when I do a particular #sahdsimone meditation. This drawing doesn’t reflect it at all but did give me a chance to sit and look at least. The last image is a rubbing in embossing foil of the tree bark I had rested my back against. #dontknowwhatyougottillitsgone #lockdown2020 #observationaldrawing #summerwasting #sketchbook #setchbookdrawing #archive #treeroots #freshfields #freshfieldsbeach #glimpsesofsummer #forest #treebark #sanddunes #beautifulmerseyside (at Minster Court) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cam_NS0Mt5h/?utm_medium=tumblr
