I’ve already talked about this, but;
I like how, in the Summoner books, the local non-Pokémon professor doesn’t just research living Demons, but she actually dissects them, has dead-things-in-jars in her office and - if I remember correctly - is completely apathetic towards anything that isn’t her research.
The Summoner trilogy by Taran Matharu....These books are awesome! For quite some time I couldn't find any new book series that interested me...then one of these books caught my eye because I main as Summoner in mmorpgs. The description of the book interested me, so I decided to give the first book a try and was definately not disappointed. This is a great fantasy series and I actually really liked the main character and didn't find him annoying like I sometimes tend to find main characters. Now that I've finished them, I can't wait to read the prequel book to these! The prequel is called Outcast (Summoner series).
Just finished this absolutely fantastic trilogy.
Heavily inspired by the summoner class you see often in mmo’s, the main character, Fletcher, is an orphan who finds out he has the ability to summon demons from the Ether.
Forced to flee his hometown and leave behind his adopted father because of a crime he didn’t commit, Fletcher and his demon, Ignatius, eventually end up in his country’s capitol of Corcillum.
In a country that’s at war with the savage orcs they share their southern border with, every summoner is badly needed on the front lines to keep their country safe. So when Fletcher is discovered by an officer of the king’s army, he is offered a place at Vocans Academy, a school where he will trained to harness his powers and train to become a battlemage.
This series is filled with lovable characters, lots of thrills and adventure, and several heartstopping plot twists. The plot is so complex and the world is rich and vibrant! And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that the covers are absolutely gorgeous. 10/10 would recommend!
(Also, not gonna lie, highkey shipping Fletcher with his best friend, Othello Thorsager, who is an absolute sweetheart.)
And while the trilogy is currently complete, there is another book planned to come out in 2018 which is set before the current storyline, detailing the story of Fletcher’s mentor, Captain Arcturus Faversham.
