Lovely stuff from Sun K
Sun K at the Rec Room. 12.09.2019
Gritty rollicking, infectiously boisterous rock and roll invigorates us on this fine young evening, thanks to Sun K, a Canadian five-piece who recently released a video for their new single High In The City. Throw your hands up and prepare to howl along to the galvanizing anthem as it captures the excitement that everyone gets when summer hits. We’re a long way from next summer, but for a moment, we’re giddy with glee as we’re overwhelmed by the feel-good rock of this carefree tune, heavily drenched in colossus hooks, cool synth wedges, and ebullient riffs. High in the City is off of the band’s booming sophomore record Bleeding Hearts, released via Nevado Music (Deap Vally, Husky), which has been garnering acclaim as well as landing spots on official Spotify playlists. Stream/purchase Sun K’s album Bleeding Hearts, here. Canadian fans can catch Sun K on tour next month. Find out more about it, here.
Top Tracks: Sun K – High In The City Sat here on a bitterly cold night in January, snuggling close to a hot water bottle to try to keep the chills at bay, 'High In The City' is just the song I needed.

Show Review - Cairo, Sun K & Elliot Maginot
Three amazing talents came to party at a packed Lee’s Palace on Friday night. Elliot Maginot, Sun K, and Cairo all took to the stage, and did not disappoint.
Opening the night was Montreal native Elliot Maginot, with his amazing Pop/Rock set. The second he started singing, my jaw dropped. I have never fallen in love with anyone’s voice so quickly. I couldn’t stop myself from dancing in my wheelchair, and people all around were staring at me. I found Elliot’s voice to be so powerful and so beautiful. Elliot’s debut EP “Young/Old/Everything In Between” was released February 10 and he performed some songs off it. Elliot Maginot was a great act to open the night.

CAIRO & SUN K
Friday night at Lee's Palace was a night of deliciously loud music! I had the privilege of attending the CD Release Party for CAIRO and also getting a taste for one of the openers, Sun K; another Toronto native collective.
I have watched CAIRO's fan base grow exponentially over the couple of years that I have known them. To see a jam packed house for their show was such a heart fulfilling experience. These days, it seems like a rarity to see Toronto show support to their own, but I think we may be in a transition period. With bands with raw talent such as these gems, it'd be hard to ignore and hard to not want to experience.
Here's a link to CAIRO's powerfully wicked debut track called (note: my mom and I danced around to the whole thing one night. It's just that great)
CAIRO - "A History Of Reasons"
Also, I must add in the brilliance of Sun K. They had guitars on guitars and a wickedly powerful frontman with a voice from the past. Oh, and their keyboardist? Also rocked the trumpet! Horns are the way to my heart. So here's one of their debut(?) tracks called "Sweet Marie" off their Debut album coming out March 10th titled, "Northern Lies".
I'll be sure to head to the next shows either of these guys put together and I hope you will too!
Here's to another Victory!
