So when everything finally settled back to normal at camp, Will offered to comfort Drew. And once they got to talking they realized how much they could relate to each other. They had both lost a lot to the war and were still struggling with the expectations of being the perfect cabin counselor's. So apon their realization, they started spending more and more time together and after a while they decided to try and start dating."

"At first, they attempted to keep the relationship to themselves. They didn't really mind other people knowing, but it was so new and they didn't want to mess anything up. Unluckily for them cabin ten is notoriously nosy, so by the time of their second date everyone in camp knew. But it didn't really get to them, as a matter of fact Drew actually started to get a little better while they were dating. I guess by allowing herself to be so open with Will she was able to become more in tune with her emotions. And for a while Drew Tanaka was actually- nice. At least, in her own strange way."

"No one really knows why they broke up, but all anyone did know is that one day Will showed up to the Aphrodite cabin to have a talk with Drew. And by the end of the conversation, they had ended things."

"After the breakup, Drew kind of just resorted back to her old self. And any good influence Will might have had on her was just washed away. Nowdays, they barely even speak. And the only time they ever really do talk is at camp meetings, but that's just about it. So, I can't really tell you why they broke up, or how and when things started to go sour. But I can't tell you one thing-"

"I think they still love each other. Even if their relationship is long past saving. Because no, I don't think they'll ever get back together, but I know deep down they don't regret their time together. Infact, no matter what either of them say, I think they even cherish it."

"Now, do me a favor and never mention this to Drew. She's mad enough as it is right now and I really don't need her directing any of that anger to me. But then again, when isn't Drew angry? At least, nowdays.”

Will Solace wasn’t used to feeling awkward in the infirmary. The place was his domain — clean cots, soft light, the smell of ambrosia and lemon balm in the air. A sanctuary in a chaotic world. But today, sitting across from Drew Tanaka, his hands wrapped around a roll of gauze and his heart thudding like a war drum, it felt anything but peaceful.

“You know,” she said dryly, “when I said I wanted more attention, I didn’t mean you had to stab me with a hydra fang first.”

Will chuckled, too aware of how close they were. “I wasn’t the one trying to show off in front of the Hermes kids.”

“Please,” Drew scoffed. “They need role models. I’m giving them something to aspire to.”

He rolled his eyes and dipped the cloth into nectar. “A concussion?”

She smirked. “Flawless combat form and a sense of fashion under pressure. I was wearing lip gloss.”

Will glanced up at her — and there it was. That fire in her eyes that used to scare people off. Not him, though. Not even in middle school, when he’d first sat next to her in their 7th-grade homeroom in New York.

She was the only other demigod in his class, both of them unknowingly placed in the same mortal school for “protection.” She wore eyeliner and attitude, corrected their math teacher in front of the whole class, and talked to him like she expected him to keep up — not like she pitied him, like others did.

They dated for three months. Three awkward, chaotic, strangely sweet months. He gave her a seashell bracelet (even though she hated the beach), and she gave him a hard time every chance she got — and maybe her heart too, just a little. Then came Camp Half-Blood, monsters, gods, and the quiet decision to stay friends.

Mostly.

Until now.

“You’re staring,” Drew said, bringing him back to the present.

Will cleared his throat, flustered. “I was just… checking the wound. You’re lucky it didn’t get infected.”

“You’re lucky I didn’t stab you with my dagger.”

“You love that dagger more than most people.”

“Maybe. But not more than a few.” Her voice dipped then, quiet, like she wasn’t sure if she meant to say it out loud.

Will’s hands paused.

They’d always been good at dancing around things — middle school feelings, summer flirtations, inside jokes nobody else got. But in the aftermath of the war, something shifted. Camp wasn’t the same. People had changed. And so had they.

“I still have that stupid seashell bracelet,” she said suddenly, staring down at her hands. “Found it in a drawer after the war. I don’t know why I kept it.”

Will swallowed. “I… remember the first time you wore it. You said it clashed with your entire aesthetic and then refused to take it off for a week.”

“It was ugly,” she said with a tiny smile.

“You liked it,” he said softly.

“Maybe I liked the person who gave it to me.”

The silence that followed felt like a live wire — electric and fragile all at once.

Will set the gauze down. “Drew, why do we do this?”

She met his eyes. “Do what?”

“Pretend we don’t see it. The looks. The late-night talks. The way I always end up patching you up because I care way more than I should.”

Drew was quiet for a long moment, then stood up from the cot, walking to the window. Camp glowed outside — campfires, laughter in the distance, stars overhead. Safe, finally.

“When I lost Silena,” she said, “I promised myself I wouldn’t depend on anyone again. That loving people just made you weaker.”

Will stood too, a few feet away from her. “But it doesn’t.”

“No,” she whispered. “It doesn’t. Not with you.”

There it was. Everything they hadn’t said since 7th grade, since their lives changed, since they learned that gods played with hearts like chess pieces. But not here. Not now.

“Then don’t run from this,” he said. “We’ve already done that.”

She turned to him, eyes shining with something soft and uncertain. “And what happens if we try again?”

Will smiled, the kind of smile that made her stomach twist in the way she hated and secretly loved. “Then maybe we do it right this time.”

She hesitated — Drew Tanaka, never hesitant — and then stepped closer.

And when she kissed him, it wasn’t dramatic or fireworks-filled. It was quiet. Familiar. Like a memory and a promise all at once.

When they finally pulled apart, she raised an eyebrow. “Still think the seashell bracelet was a good idea?”

He grinned. “Terrible. But maybe I’ll make you a new one.”

She rolled her eyes. “Better not be pink.”

“No promises.”

hello!!! I have been thinking a lot of ur “damsels of walpurgis post” u made a while ago…I have some lore already for those women, but do you have any fannon lore/hcs about them you’d like to share? (:

Henriette Babineaux (Malfoy) is an immigrant, she moved from France where both of her parents attended Beauxbatons, and that's why her family doesn't have any notoriety with the British purebloods. A lot of her friends call her "Hettie" (I'm sure there's a gay joke in there you can make if you want to do some lesbianism), and she speaks both French and English as her first languages, leading to her accent being kind of confusing. I like to imagine Abraxas being a little bit similar to Scorpius in some ways, mostly because I think it's a funny juxtaposition if Tombraxas is evil Scorbus, so I picture Henriette falling for Abraxas because he's not super composed, he's a little too tall and uncoordinated. I don't think abraxas feels any pressure to perform as a perfect pureblood around her, but when Tom started taking things down a darker road he got stressed and took a lot of that out on his family. He was a cold husband and father because of that, and Henriette always told Lucius that things would get better once the war was over. He resents both of them because that wasn't true, and he resents Scorpius for being too unpurebloodly, but also for being too similar to his own parents.

Fiona Bowker (Dolohov) was somewhat like a "mean girl", I imagine she probably called Tom Riddle a mudblood at some point, since it was several years before he figured out who his family was. She has a little brother, Fergus, and his line is the one that eventually results in Craig Bowker Jr., and since Craig isn't really all that respected, even in a universe where Voldemort wins the Jenkins family have more popularity than his, so I imagine Fiona and Fergus having a lot of issues about who she hangs out with and who she marries. Fiona doesn't like the Death-Eaters, but she agrees with her husband Rothbart more than the Order, and Fergus cuts off all contact with her.

Indigo Bulstrode (Mulciber) I don't actually have much lore for, but I do imagine her being a very traditional and appropriate pureblood wife. Like, arranged marriage, docile homemaker, doesn't question her husbands activities, just very indoctrinated into the whole traditional marriage thing.

Dervla Idris (Avery) obviously doesn't come from a particularly pureblood family, she married Edmund Snr. for love, and she was friends with her ancestor Gwydion Idris, who haunts Hogwarts as a teenage ghost, so as much as she doesn't like the Death-Eaters, she really thought she could change his mind though. It's especially awful when her son decides to join as well, despite her protests.

Candace McHavelock (Nott) comes from the McHavelock family, who own a wigs and hats shop, and live in Hogsmeade, so she was quite interested in fashion and cursed fabrics. Her older brother, Irving McHavelock, is the one who opened the shop, and he lets her design some of the hats but she's not allowed to be an official employee. Argentus Nott actually supported her ambitions, and they kept their son away from the Death-Eaters (Nott Snr. is the only one of his family who is a Death-Eater, so I interpret that he didn't want his family to get sucked into it).

Nuha Shafiq (Lestrange) is actually the most fleshed out one. I chose Shafiq because Rabastan has a mispelled Arabic name, and Shafiq was the only Arab pureblood family I knew about at the time, so I picked her. She's actually in Hufflepuff, unlike the rest who are in Slytherin, and she's very sweet. Nuha is the name of a triple goddess with a Sun association, I chose this because I'm a Pandora Lestrange fan and it would mirror Luna Lovegood having a triple goddess with a Moon association as her name. Nuha can get quite jealous, she's a pretty jealous person, but with Corvus Lestrange VI she doesn't really have to worry about that, he only has eyes for her. She has a passion for history and the stars, and I imagine this impacted Pandora's love of alchemy. I also picture Nuha and Rabastan being quite close. I don't think she wanted her family to become Death-Eaters, she definitely helped Pandora escape and remained in contact with the Lovegood's afterwards, but I don't picture her being in much of a position to leave either. Much like how Narcissa was too in love with Lucius to leave despite her own morals surrounding the situation.

Edelweiss Tremblay (Rosier) I imagine somewhat whimsical, although nowhere near the same level of whimsy as like, Luna Lovegood or any of her family. I don't subscribe to the Pandora is a Rosier headcanon, but I did intentionally make Edelweiss blonde and whimsical so that the Evandora siblings fans could use her if they wanted to. The Tremblay family really just appear in the background a lot, they marry into the Lestrange's mutliple times before we even get to Leta, there's Mason Tremblay who was an undiscovered Death-Eater until he went mad and started terrorising muggles, and Harry had to arrest him. So like, Edelweiss might have some of the Tremblay family mental health issues.

As for Druella, she's a canon character that I've given some minor thought to, mostly I think she'd probably be extra close with Edelweiss because they become sisters in law, but I admittedly need to do more research into the Rosier family to really figure her out, because all I know about them is that they're consistently evil.

Weekly Writing Report #1

9.1.24 - 9.8.24

So, I've been toying around with different writing schedules that might work for me and have decided I'm going to try to write every day in September. Thus I thought I would document how the first week went.

My first draft hit 20k this week! The zero draft came in at 16,672 when I finished it back in May, so it's only a slight step up, but a step nonetheless! Signs of progress are so fun to see.

Balancing school with writing has been an adjustment. I have really long days on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I may have to just accept I won’t be writing much on those days. I think I'm really starting to get into the writing flow, though.

I usually write in the morning because I find I have more consistent motivation, but I’ve been getting the urge lately to do some nighttime sessions like I used to do in middle school when I would be suddenly gripped by a manically creative spirit at 2am, so I may try to drag my friend into having little evening-time creativity sessions with me.

If I’m successful, then I’ll actually be able to write more on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Given I don’t have much homework.

So! We’ll have to see if I can get them on board. I’m not too bothered if not, though. I don’t have any particular word count goal for the month, I’m just trying to write every day. If I lose all motivation on September 15th or something and can only write a sentence a day, then that’s still progress to me.

That being said, I do want to make it a goal to hit 1,000 words at least one day this month. I keep hovering in the 800-950 range so i know if I push it just a little bit I can do it.
