june IS a reporter in the source material (aka my original fic lmao) so this is basically an au for nobody else but me. in this series though she's going to be a PI because in every universe, she can't mind her own business 💛

she's very headstrong about some things, and deeply unsure of herself in other ways. she's loyal. she's easy to talk but kind of reserved. she remembers your favorite color from when you mentioned it in passing two years ago, but she can't remember what time you said you were meeting for coffee. would rather do anything than sit with her feelings. will go so far out of her way to convince someone she's fine. is a little bit of a flake but would absolutely be the one to answer a call at 2 am and show up wherever she's needed. most likely to respond to a text four days late with a story about some shit she got in the middle of. do not ask her about her breakup, but please tell her about yours.

june is into the idea of batman. she wants to know what that freak's deal is. she definitely is curious to know who he is, but she's even more interested in the why and how.

someone who's meeting june for the first time would probably remember her wit. she's kind of a smart ass 💛

i don’t think anyone has picked up some of my favorite details yet 👀

one of the ones i really liked was the Monet paintings I chose for the museum trips.

this is the painting bruce said was one of martha’s favorites, Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge (1899). I chose this painting because i personally love monet, and also because i loved the dreaminess of impressionism working with the dreaminess of this phase in the relationship

this is the painting referenced in the second museum scene, The Japanese Footbridge (1920-1922). i love this painting, and i chose it for this scene because it’s the same scenery but the portrayal is completely different because of the cataracts monet developed.

i liked comparing the very neat lines and cool colors for the early phase of the story and associating that with martha and bruce’s childhood, and then going to something very vivid and disorderly when that matches more what’s going on within the reader character in that moment towards the end

PI reader my beloved 💛 this was actually my very first idea when i was starting to get into batman

PI reader is doesn't know how to mind their own business. PI reader is a pro at biting off more than they can chew and also very good at cobbling together a solution to get out of their self-made problems. and i think they would stress bruce out so much, which is of course why they must fall in love 🥰

and i looked back at the 1k i wrote the other day in a fit of dazed inspiration and was actually kind of impressed, so you can read a little snippet below the cut

what is bruce’s most tried and tested method of comforting you? how did he figure it out?

how does bruce handle getting you flowers? is it based on your favourites? a secret message through the language of flowers? do they always have to be hand delivered by him or will flowers show up for you out of the blue from a delivery service?

does jason learn to make your comfort food or does he have your favourite bakeries/stores/relative on speed dial?

is jason more proactive in comforting you or does he wait for you to come to him?

bruce’s go-to method is a good, long hug and some quiet time. he made the connection between me feeling down and seeking out some sort of physical comfort. the silence part just comes naturally to him. i’ll go sit quietly with him in the cave while he works, and when i start to bug him again, he knows i’m feeling better.

omg i actually LOVE the idea of bruce being into flower languages. i think he’d appreciate having a subtle way of communicating his feelings. but i think for a bad day, bruce would stick with roses for something classic (they’re not my favorite, but i like having them around because they make me feel fancy 🌹). because of his schedule, bruce definitely does get flowers delivered occasionally—especially if he wants them to be a surprise—but he prefers to deliver them himself

i think there’s a progression from jason knowing my favorite things from favorite restaurants to him trying out making it himself. after my 500th time of being like i want a breakfast burrito :-( he knows how to make it how i like and does it himself (this stems from the belief that has solidified in this moment that jason can make a mean breakfast burrito). but i also think jason is the kinda guy who will also just bring things home if he knows i’m feeling down. like he’s already out, so he’s going to swing by the store to get me a little drink, or it’s super early so the bakery isn’t busy yet and he gets a couple of pastries or whatever. sweet little things like that he always tries to downplay.

jason is the kinda guy who will acknowledge he knows something is up with a little forehead kiss or something, and then he’ll probably leave me to come to him when i’m ready to talk about whatever is on my mind

this ask is so fun. i imagine as a kid, bruce didn’t see a ton of musicals—maybe like two or three—but his parents went somewhat frequently. he still associates theatre with them.

angsty tween/teen bruce avoided musicals like the plague until he was a little 13-year-old and was out on a date with a girl who wanted to see phantom of the opera

bruce has, at the very least, teared up every single time he’s seen les mis. his favorite character is the bishop.

it’s definitely the vibe. there is a zero percent chance bruce is not getting on my nerves even in my wildest dreams; i don’t like being told what to do, and i have big issues with authority.

so inevitably, bruce pisses me off, and in return, i do something annoying or contrary to what he wants to happen, and it’s back and forth forever. but we’re both kind of into it because it’s one of those things where we’re driving each other up the wall because we know the exact way to do it so effectively.

we’re flirting by slowly driving each other to madness 🥰

i fully thought i posted this weeks ago and just went about my life and found out TODAY it was still in my drafts OOPS

(I’m incredibly biased but) bruce is a vampire obvi and NOT just because it’s hot. i have more to say, but im still writing vampire bruce and i don’t want to spoil my whole deal

dick would maybe be some sort of shapeshifter. i’m thinking of the “i am who you need me to be” line, poor buddy

I looooooove a werewolf jason, but I’m going to actually go with poltergeist for him because his presence demands to be felt

i’m cheating for tim because this is a cryptid, but i think tim is a fresno nightcrawler (picture below the cut for anyone who doesn’t know). i don’t know why, but it calls to me, so sorry to tim i guess

damian is also a vampire. this is in part because world war v is one of the runs i’m reading right now, but also because i like the concept of damian drinking blood/killing because it’s what he’s taught, and finding alternate methods through bruce. vampire father and son duo 💛

i’m actually having a difficult time with cass because there are so many good ways you could go for her and she means everything to me, so i can’t just go and say she’s a fresno night crawler. like i kind of almost think a banshee?? i might like that for her
