Mt. Rainier National Park Backpacking Trip July 10-12, 2025 Part 1
This is Part 1 of many as I just spent two weeks exploring the Pacific Northwest with my childhood friend, Laura.
We did a two-day backpacking/camping trip in Mt. Rainier National Park that started out with the most beautiful sunset hike I have ever seen. The clouds were literally floating above us. I have also never seen a "moon rise" before, and it was truly breathtaking. We packed sandwiches for dinner and it was beyond peaceful sitting and soaking it all in.
I went with Laura and her three other friends, Sydney, Daniele, and Emily. We all quickly got along well and it was just so easy and a blast. I felt truly lucky to be able to experience this with them.
After the sunset hike, we camped and got up to hike/backpack Glacier Bassin Trail in Mt. Rainier National Park. This was only my second time backpacking and I was a little nervous, but it went really well. I don't think I give myself enough credit as I'm pretty active in my day-to-day life.
Highlights of this backpacking trip: We saw a black bear! And that picture is with him sticking its tongue out! We saw a marmot, which is new for me. They're so funny. We met this guy Wesley who was backpacking by himself and joined our group (as seen in the photo of of him playing the guitar). It's funny, we saw him on the trail with his guitar and made a joke that he would serenade us at the campsite, and he ended up doing so! We manifested it. He is also a photographer and took some really beautiful shots. One of them I may even frame. We also met a middle-aged woman named Tatiana and she hung out with us for a while at the campsite and had s'mores as well. She was giving us unsolicited life advice haha. It was just so magical to have met a 20 year old dude and a middle-aged woman and how we all just connected in the middle of a national park campground.
Overall this backpacking trip was 10/10. So much fun. I truly feel so lucky and grateful to have the people in my life that I do. More to come from this trip.
Today’s Strength Session:
Lots of stairs and a sunset view 😌
Sunset among the pines
You win some, you lose some. Got only to this point during the sunset climb before I spun out into a panic attack and had to go back down. I’ll get em next time.
