It’s not often that Izuku and Shouto happen to get the same day off. Usually, it’s something they have to plan- a process that often involves Izuku sitting down on their bed with three separate planners spread around him to cross-checks their various schedules. Because of this, the accidental days somehow feel more special to him, more like fate stepping in to give them both a much needed break. 

Izuku still likes to keep a routine, though. He likes to wake up early so he can go on a run, shower, and then make breakfast that he and Shouto can eat together in bed. The rest of the day is spent running errands: grocery shopping, meeting friends for lunch, visiting Eri, doing laundry, and anything else that needs to get done. Maybe it keeps them a little busy for a day off, but Izuku enjoys that the whole day is still spent together, so he doesn’t mind. 

Today is different, though. When his alarm goes off in the morning, Shouto doesn’t grumble and let go of him to roll over like he usually does. Instead, his grumble is followed by tightening his hold, his face pressed against the back of his neck and his leg wrapping around Izuku’s so he can’t pull away.

It’s weird, sure, but it’s mostly endearing and Izuku can’t help a smile as he reaches for his phone and shuts off the alarm. Then he looks over his shoulder to see red and white hair ruffled enough from sleep that the strands are crossing over each other. “Shou, you gotta let me up,” he says, reaching back to poke Shouto’s cheek. 

“No.”

“No?”

“No.”

Izuku huffs softly and lets his head drop onto the pillow, staring at the wall. After a few seconds, he looks back at Shouto. “Why not? I can’t make breakfast if you don’t let go.”

Blue and grey eyes peek up at him and narrow just slightly in thought. “I want to stay in bed today,” he finally says.

“You always stay in bed. I usually have to drag you out of it.”

“If you drag me out today, I will die.”

Izuku can’t help laughing at that, fully aware that the worst that will happen is Shouto accidentally running into the bathroom door because he didn’t bother opening his eyes while walking.

“You can sleep in a little longer, Shouto, but please let me up.”

“The entire day, Izuku. I want to stay in bed with you for the entire day.”

Oh. They haven’t done that since the first week they moved in together and spent a day on the couch, only getting up for bathroom breaks and to pick up food delivered to the front door. And, if Izuku is being honest with himself, it does sound kind of nice to spend the day in bed. Sure, they have stuff planned, but it’s nothing that can’t be pushed back. 

He smiles slightly and wiggles in Shouto’s arms until they loosen enough for him to turn so they’re facing each other. “I guess, since we don’t have anything urgent, that we could spend the day in bed,” he says, his smile widening when Shouto perks up a little.

“Good. I didn’t plan to let you go anyway.”

Izuku hums softly, reaching up to tuck a few red strands of hair behind his ear. “What if I had to use the bathroom?” he asks. 

“I’d tell you to hold it.”

“How evil of you.”

Shouto laughs softly and leans forward until their foreheads are pressed together. “If I’m evil, then you have a duty as a hero to keep me from doing evil things.”

“And how am I supposed to do that?” Izuku asks.

He doesn’t get a verbal response. Instead, Shouto holds him tighter and rolls onto his back, pulling Izuku on top of him and laughing again at the surprised yelp that follows. He looks down at Izuku, running his hand through green locks as he says, “I can’t move if you stay right there.”

It’s ridiculous, yes, but Izuku can’t find any part of him that’s upset with this new development when he can feel Shouto’s steady heartbeat beneath him. “I guess I won’t be moving then,” he says, pressing a quick kiss to Shouto’s cheek before relaxing on top of him.

Dozing off again is far too easy with the peaceful feeling of Shouto’s hand in his hair and his even breathing, and his eyes are starting to slip shut when he hears, “You’re going to hate me but I need to use the bathroom.”

It takes a few seconds for the words to register but, when they do, Izuku looks up with a playful grin and says, “Hold it.” 

The amused smile Shouto gets is more than worth being pushed back onto the bed.

☾: how i thought people would respond to the fic

Oh! I loved that little one. Um, tbh I wrote it as a gift, so I was more concerned with how the recipient would respond to it. They liked it, so that's good! As for everyone else, I wasn't sure how they'd respond. The song was relatively popular (Location by Khalid) but having a character- Todoroki- that looks nothing like Khalid sing the song took a bit of suspension of disbelief lol. I was hoping people would be willing to associate the vibes and lyrics of the song to the romance in the story, and use their imaginations on the rest. Funny enough, it sort of helped influence me writing song type fics in later fandom.
