Super Shy!
I. II.
overview: A local agricultural community partnered with Karasuno’s environmental club to create a six week program for second and third year students. Tsukishima’s pestering chemistry teacher forced him to apply. You, a 3rd year and the environmental club’s president won’t leave him alone- well actually your just doing your job, trying to help an underclassman. But oh no! Tsukishima has mistaken your attention for something else! (@_@)
"You don't even know my name, do ya?"
The first week of the agriculture program had been a success. It was decided that your cohort would spend the first half of the program researching and testing in small lab spaces while the second cohort will spend their first half planting and cultivating the specimens. Then they would swap places. On the Wednesday following the initial meeting, you started the meeting by forcing everyone to do icebreakers: their name, year level, and if they prefer coffee or tea. You offered to go first not wanting to put anyone on the spot.
"My name is y/n, I'm a third year and I perfer tea!"
After you three second years and one third year introduced themselves. The final person to go was the shy second year from yesterday. He looked forward and introduced himself avoiding making eye contact with anyone in particular.
"I'm Kei Tsukishima, I'm second year and I guess I'd prefer tea."
A research representative from the company came to speak to your cohort. As she walked around the class handing out papers she discussed how you all would need to split into groups of two for the duration of the program. Bustling voices overtook the classroom as people searched for their friends. Just as you were about to ask a friend from your math class to be a partners, a excited second year beat you to it. As you looked around, almost everyone was partnered up… except you and the shy second year! From the looks of it he didn't make an effort to even look for a partner. He sat in his seat looking absentmindedly out the window. Wow too nervous to introduce himself to others. I couldn't rest if I let a underclassman go throughout the program without enjoying themselves!
"Tsukishiya, let's be partners!" you declared, looking down at him, gleaming.
He moved his headphones to sit around his neck and looked at you confused.
"Its TsukishiMA… and shouldn't you have a lot of people wanting to be your partner? Knowing that your club president and all.." His voice was laced with suspicion as he questioned you.
"Are you not one of those people?" Second years have no respect these days…
He shrugged, looking up at you. "so humble…" he muttered under his breathe.
"Speak up? I didn't catch that" You teased causing him to roll his eyes.
"I'm starting to understand why no one approached you to be their partner."
He reached to grab the packet from your hands but you snatched it out of reach. Tsukishima raised his eyebrows at your taunt. The sound of a voice calling out to you stole your attention from the battle at hand. Lynn, a second year in your club ran up to you and told you how she would be so excited to work together but before she could finish muttering out her question a sharp voice interrupted her. Tsukishima abruptly stood up and used his long arms to pluck the packet out of your grasp. He looked down at you and the Lynn with a smug look on his face.
"Actually me and Ms. president here, are already partners" He sat back down and wrote his name next to yours in pen. Lynn looked at the tall boy with confusion then looked at you like she was waiting for you to say something. You apologized and told her that there would be plenty of moments to work together each week. You and Lynn shared a smile before she softly bowed and ran off, most likely thrown off by Tsukishima's declaration.
"What's with you?"
The blonde boy looked at you, his face full of indifference and shrugged his shoulders.
" I mean we were already partners, weren't we?" He mumbled, his voice lacking the same smugness from before.
I can't grasp his personality at all.
You shook your head at him and changed the topic of the conversation. You grabbed a chair from the desk behind and sat it at the other end of Tsukishima's desk. Tsukishima moved his elbows from the desk so you would both be able to read the contents inside. As you read aloud he made no effort to read with you but provided comments and questions when needed.
"So were growing mutant vegetables?"
"well… yes,but different mutations result in different factors that could increase the cabbages rate of growth. Your a second year right? I think you guys will learn more about it later in the year."
Tsukishima nodded his head.
"It'll be really fun if you have any friends in your class. Definitely my favorite science class in high school…"
Tsukishima looked at you with raised eyebrows.
Crap! what am i saying.. A guy like him probably doesn't have many friends.. If any!
"or I'm sure its a fun class without friends too.."
You looked over at Tsukishima who appeared to be lost in thought.
"I like it so far…I'm interested in archeology so learning about evolution was interesting enough for a science class."
The representative called out to the group, telling everyone that it was imperative for them to bring their packet and a note book each day of the program and that forgetting it would not demonstrate preparedness. Internally you made a note to email a reminder to your cohort after the meeting. The representative spent the last 10 minutes answering questions and explaining the task in further detail.
You watched everyone say their goodbyes and pack up. You however were required to leave last to make sure the room was properly cleaned and locked up . Tsukishima grabbed his bag and stood up. "See you.." He said with a small wave. As he walked out the door he looked down at his phone and pressed something before sliding his headphones over his short blonde hair. The wire stretched out a far distance between his phone in his pocket and the top of his neck.
Wired headphones? so performative...
notes: I had no ideas for this chapter but then NWJNS gave me a wave of inspiration. Once again i don't know what to do for chpater three...
(-_-) hopefully it doesn't take me another month to figure it out..
