the thing I really love about superband is just the contestants desire to work with each other, because this is not a solo competition in the end. they’re also scouting for people to work with during the audition process and that’s what sets this show aside for me. It’s a survival show for sure, but most of them are trained or longtime musicians that are LOOKING for people to build a team with. so you have those listening to the audition process and saying “I want to form a team with them”, “I want to work with them”, “I think tonally we’d suit each other”, “this is the sound I’m looking for” and it’s just??? EXACTLY!!!!!!!! and I always remember superband 1 contestants saying that elimination in the later rounds weren’t even a matter of losing the chance to win, but it was losing the chance to work with these skilled and good bandmates. they’d regret leaving before they had a chance to work with someone they wanted to pair with. these people also know this is as much as a group competition as it is a solo, and bringing in so many different musicians to curate new or unique renditions of songs is so cool. I’m going crazy
