Am I the only one who hates this image? People use it every time feet or toilet humor or inflation or even muscle growth appears in some cartoon episode, saying that the writers are disgusting and sick and "hiding their fetishes." Hey guess what, a fart joke isn't automatically a sign of a writer's fetish, because believe it or not, some people think toilet humor is funny! Same with feet, because feet are funny-looking and have weird smells.

Dan Schneider's shows have people thinking that every writer is out to incorporate their fetishes into kids' shows. The problem with Dan Schneider is he used real kids for constant foot jokes and innuendos. At least Quentin Tarantino makes movies for adults and uses adults for foot scenes.

And obviously there is nothing wrong with having fetishes. I think people should be free to incorporate their fetishes into their works as long as it's directed to the right audience (so, not kids) and no one is being hurt. At least that one Harley Quinn comic coming out soon is open about the fact that it's directed at fart enjoyers.

Cringe culture really messed me up when I was younger, there would be cringe compilations dedicated to someone's Sonic inflation fanart and people would be like "fetishes are disgusting and evil" and this only increased thanks to Dan Schneider's bad behavior. I had repressed fetishes that I now acknowledge and embrace.

Anytime someone complains about fetishes (or acts like a puritan in general) we should use this image instead

you know I just remembered that it'll be a full decade since modern anti ideology took over fandom, because of the Voltron shit. I'll admit that I did like/watch Voltron, but I wasn't super invested in it. I was more into Steven Universe/similar shows, and obsessing over Cartoon Network's schedule. That was a whole thing.

When I found out that certain shippers were harassing others, calling each other -philes and criminals over ships, harassing the literal show staff, and threatening to leak stuff unless their ship was made canon, I was like "Wtf." The worst of the VLD fandom isn't around anymore, but antiship ideology seems to have taken over fandom long-term. There were ship wars before VLD, but with this show, they added morality into the wars.

Because of this, now countless teenagers enter fandom and learn that drawings equal morality, and that it's okay to send death threats to people for shipping the wrong inanimate objects together. Now we have new fans parroting borderline-radfem/evangelical rhetoric and seeing nothing wrong with it. Now we have new fans going onto AO3, using DNI criteria unironically, and getting mad when they see stories they don't like. now we have new fans worrying that they might be a pedophile because they're about to turn 18 and they like a 16 year old anime character.

Shit sucks, man. As someone who was conditioned into anti ideology when I was 15 and snapped out of it once I was 18-19, it doesn't help anyone at all. You are not a superhero "ending pedophilia" just because you harassed someone for shipping characters.

In 2026, all I want is for swathes of antis to realize the error of their ways and wake up, just like I and many other ex-antis did. but it'll probably take a very long time to undo the damage antis caused to fandom at large.

I lost a friend a few days ago because they decided that they couldn't forgive my friends and I for being amtis in the past and getting into spats with them over fiction and ships in the past. It was like 5 years ago when we decided to stop being antis and I think it's fair that my friend despises us for it but they decided to bring it up out of nowhere and they even laughed and said I looked like a fat cow and they would never want to see me in person so I was really close to crying.

I'm sorry this happened to you. That friend insulting you was completely out of line and they shouldn't have done that. It is true that sometimes the people you hurt will not forgive you, even if you change and go out of your way to make things better, but continuing to hold that kind of grudge after five years to the point of lashing out and bodyshaming you is absolutely horrid. If that friend can't forgive you, they should have just left instead of staying so they could twist the knife in deeper.

Don't worry, there are people out there who will respect you for the person you are now, and that friend will never find peace if they choose to keep lashing out hoping to hurt people instead of mending things or simply moving on. Remember that that's their problem and not yours.

You hear that, folks? There's no point in trying to be a better person, because if you did something bad once, that's it. Irredeemable. You might as well not even bother to apologize and make things right because it doesn't matter. If you've done bad things, you're a bad person forever.

PEOPLE DO NOT CHOOSE TO BE IN CULTS. That's how they fucking work. Everyone is capable of doing bad things, yes, even you, what matters is that you take responsibility for your actions and try to do better next time.

When you forbid people from changing their minds, you keep people trapped in their current mindset. The human brain is not static, it changes all the time, it's constantly developing throughout the course of our whole lives. I was born into a religious cult. Was it my fault that I couldn't get out for 16 years of my life? Am I doomed to stay in the clutches of my past abusers for the rest of my life due to circumstances completely outside my control??

Criticize what people do now, absolutely, but stop digging shit up from the past that the person themself says they regret. You're just being a fucking asshole at that point.

We want to encourage people to be better and do better, not bully them for shit they no longer tolerate.
