I could not be more annoyed!
I was supposed to get my new computer today but some kind of “delay” with UPS (a private delivery company which has no obligation to deliver on time) happened in Portland Oregon and now I can’t have it until tomorrow. This is so fucking annoying because I could drive down to Portland in about 20 minutes and fucking pick up my computer if I knew where it was!
Meanwhile the United States Postal Service (government funded public service) after practically being kneecapped in an by Trump and DeJoy to suppress mail in voting has managed to deliver my headphones On Time!
Both of these packages came from the same place they were just shipped differently and well...
FUCK CAPITALISM!!!
waittt how does one acquire pen pals?
hello!! there's multiple different ways, below are a bunch of ways i have acquired penpals:
postcrossing - a website where one can sign up to exchange postcards with people all across the world! you can send up to 5 postcards at a time, and it is a system reliant on users actively mailing out postcards. there's a vacation mode feature though for if you can't be active or need a break!
prisoner correspondence project - a project i found online where you can be matched to a penpal who is incarcerated in either canada or the usa. it is geared towards lgbtq+ incarcerated folks, but anyone is invited to participate. they have a lot of guidelines in order to ensure safety and can provide lots of resources. i have my one penpal that i regularly send letters to.
friends/loved ones irl & online - i've reached out to loads of my loved ones, both online & irl, asking if i can send them letters! not everyone mails stuff back, but they keep me updated on their mailing addresses + what they like! all it takes is asking, i have a few tumblr mutuals where we're penpals!
the internet - you can look up a bunch of different penpal programs online, the internet is a broad place. i found the prisoner correspondence project by looking up "queer penpal programs," so you can look up descriptors like that as a start!
