Surfer Luke

A/N: This is the first thing I’ve ever written so sorry if it sucks. I’d love to hear what you think of it or if you have any tips for me. English is not my first language so I apologize for any spelling/grammar mistakes. If you like it please reblog so more people can see it :) Okay here goes nothing:

You had met Luke a few months ago while you were on the beach with some friends. It was a beautiful, hot day and you really needed to cool off from laying in the sun all day. Sadly your friends didn’t really like to go surfing or even get in the water for that matter. That’s why you decided you would just grab your board and head in to the water alone.

You walked up to your car and started prepping your board. As you were putting on your wetsuit you saw a boy walk up to you, surfboard under his arm and wetsuit up to his hips showing off his toned chest. “Are you heading out there on your own?” he asked while he nervously put his hand through his messy blonde hair. “Yes, my friends aren’t really in to surfing so I don’t have a choice”, you laughed quietly looking up at him. You noticed his eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue you had ever seen. 

You didn’t realize you were kind of staring until he spoke up “Would you mind if I join you? You know, just to keep you company”. “Eh, sure why not…” you replied and then you realized you didn’t even know the boys name. “Oh right sorry I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Luke” he said holding his hand out for you to shake. “Nice to meet you Luke i’m Y/N” you answered while shaking his hand. After telling each other your names you started heading to the water together.

The rest of your day was spent with Luke, you surfed, talked and just had a lot of fun together. At the end of the day Luke told you that he had an amazing time and he would really like to take you on a date sometime. Of course you said yes, if you had to be honest you did develop a little crush on Luke even though you just met him that day.

This day was 5 months ago now and Luke had asked you to be his girlfriend after a few dates. He had introduced you to his friends and you all got along great. You usually hang out with the entire group but today it was just going to be you and Luke.

He had called you last night asking if you were free today and wanted to go on a little trip with him. You were curious as to what this trip was going to be but he refused to say anything claiming it was a surprise. He told you to be ready by 9am with your surf gear and some extra clothes.

So here you were, in Luke’s pick up truck singing along to all your favorite songs at the top of your lungs. “Are we almost there Luke? Where are you taking me, we’ve been driving for 2 hours already” you said to him losing your patience and just wanting to know what he had planned. “Stop asking babe, we’ll be there soon I promise” he chuckled.

After another 10 minutes Luke pulled over and this beautiful, secluded beach came in to view. There was no one on it and the waves seemed to be perfect for surfing, it was breathtaking. “Luke this is so awesome!” you said while jumping out of the car, running to him to wrap your arms around his neck. “You like it?” Luke asked looking down at you. “I love it” you breathed out giving Luke a quick kiss on his lips. “Come on let’s go catch some waves” Luke said and pulled you along towards the water.

You spent the entire day running around on the beach, surfing, eating the food Luke brought and the casual make out session here and there. You had such a blast and whenever you’re with Luke you lose track of time.

The sun was about to set and it was getting a bit chilly so you told Luke you were going to change in to something more warm and comfy. While you were getting changed Luke began setting up the last part of the surprise. He pulled out some blankets, pillows and the food you had left and set everything up in the back of his pick up truck.

He had just finished when you came back from the front of the car. “Luke what’s all of this? I thought we were going to head back home?” you asked him after seeing the set up. “I thought it would be romantic to snuggle up here and eat some food while watching the sunset together” he gave you a small smile. This had to be the most romantic thing anyone had ever done for you so you blushed and said “Luke it’s perfect thank you so much”. You both crawled in to the back of the truck and cuddled up to each other. You loved moments like these where it was just you and him and the beautiful view of the setting sun made it even better.

Once the sun had fully set and the stars had come out you let out a small yawn. “Are you tired baby?” Luke asked. “Yeah a little bit” you replied while putting your head on his chest. “Let’s go to sleep then love”. You both went to lay down, wrapping the blanket around you two. Luke pulled you closer to him and gave you a gentle kiss on your forehead. “Thank you for today Luke, I loved every second of it” you said while moving your head to look at him. “I’m glad you liked it” he smiled, leaning down to give you a kiss. It was so full of love and you felt the butterflies erupt in your stomach. Once you broke away from the kiss you snuggled back into his chest and let out a sigh of happiness. He gave you another kiss on your head and mumbled “I love you Y/N”. Your heart exploded once these words had finally left his lips. You were blushing and smiling like crazy when you answered “I love you too Luke”.

That night Luke and you fell asleep underneath the star illuminated sky, both incredibly happy that you finally confessed your love for each other.

Surfer Luke AU - 2

Part 1 

(everyone liked how I split it by time so I’m going to try & do it again)

8pm - You both thanked your sponsors as you left dinner. It was the night before a WSL (World Surf League) event and as usual, your nerves were at an all-time high and Luke was calm as could be. “Wanna walk back or get a cab?” He asked, unbuttoning his dress shirt and pulling it untucked from his pants. You took in the scenery of the little town, Waimea Bay in Oahu, “Let’s walk.” You stuck out your hand and grabbed onto his. “Your first heat is quarter after eight, we have to be there by half seven, no wasting time so you avoid media.” He rolled his eyes and scoffed, “Do media with me, please?” 

9:30pm - “Babe, please go to sleep.” Luke mumbled into the back of your neck. “If I even bobble tomorrow I could lose my ranking.” You sighed, “Georgiana is so close to taking my-- “But...” He interrupted, “If you hit everything solid you can jump to number two with three events left.” You tried to think like Luke, but the air conditioner in your hotel room was loud, every now and then drunk people went down the hall, there was a bright light coming inside the window, and you kept forgetting facts about your new sponsor. Somehow in the midst of over thinking you fell asleep.

6:15am - Your alarm had gone off at six and your breakfast room service was rolling in your room. Luke tended to forget that most people aren’t used to him being half naked a majority of the time, so he quite shocked the young girl who brought your food answering the door in his boxer-briefs. For some reason, as always, you both sat in silence eating. Checking weather reports, wave reports, event information, and even social media greetings wishing you both good luck.

7:00am - Somehow you arrived early, your shared assistant was waiting at check in with everything you both needed. “Your bungalow is the last on the left, no media for another half hour, get into wet suits, intro is at eight sharp.” He rattled off handing them their list of what color tops to wear in their heats. 

(((I feel like I should mention how a surf even sort of works. Heats of a certain number, say 5, go out at the same time with the same amount of time to do as many waves as possible. You get assigned a color for a wet suit top to put on so judges can spot you in the water. People with high scores move on to further rounds and get to a final where they go out alone to be scored.)))

7:25am - You peeked out the small window of your beach bungalow at the crowd waiting for you both. You paced in the tiny area, situating your blue top over your wet suit and pulling your hair from it’s braid. Luke was still in his shorts and tank, browsing his phone, laughing at something. “Luke you have three minutes.” He groaned, tossing his phone to the side before stripping completely naked to put on his wet suit and green top. “Leo’s been smack talking me on twitter, he’s literally thirty points behind. Unless I screw up mega there’s no way he’s taking my title.” You wrapped your arms around him, hiding your face in his chest. “I don’t understand how you always get so nervous.” He squeezed you and rubbed his hands along your back, “Focus on the media right now.” 

7:58am - “I just need to hit some good waves today, gain some points, make my trainer proud.” You smirked, nudging Luke’s side. “No matter what she does she makes me proud. She’s been working hard the last few weeks for this event, she’s going to rock it.” He leaned over and kissed the top of your head. The buzzer went off, signaling all media to leave contenders alone. “Okay babe, intros and I’m out in the water.” You pulled the zip up the back of his wet suit and he situated it on himself, “When I win my heat you better be the first person I see when I get out of the water.” 

8:28am - Luke’s arrogant smirk could be seen from miles down the beach. He killed his heat with two tricks verses everyone else’s four. He handed his board to your assistant and wrapped his wet, lanky limbs around you. He pulled back and grabbed your waist, whispering to you, “Once you’re outback wait for an offshore wind, coming ever ninety seconds or so. Do a pocket run first, then try for a slash. The three with you hit nothing in practice so stay solid, get points to move on, not points for a championship.” He kissed you quick before setting his board down and grabbing yours before grabbing your hand and escorting you to the water. This is why girls (surfers and non-surfers) hated you; the way Luke treated you. Like a princess, like his princess. Ever since you started dating there wasn’t a run you did that he didn’t carry your board to the water for you and let you know the conditions from his heat.

12:15pm - You both had made it to the finals. Your competition was tough but if you nailed the trick you’d been working on all week you had it in the bag. Not only did you want it for yourself, you wanted it to prove to Luke his training was working. “We’re both red.” He smiled, looking at the assignment board. “You know what happened last time we were both red?” You looked at him confused, taking your shirts from your assistant. “The final event last year, we both wore red. I won the championship and you won the event and jumped four places.” “I came in sixth-- “You jumped four places in one event. Today that’s not possible, you only need to jump two.”

1:30pm - The men’s final was first and Luke obviously won. He asked them to stop his celebration and not to interview him till your heat was over. His stood in the non-media area after he walked you to the water, silently watching as you paddled out. Two waves went by before you were able to catch one, you did a minor trick getting you solid points on execution but you needed more than that. You could see Luke on the shore, nodding his head back at you. As if it were a trigger you hopped on the next wave not even caring, standing on your board as if something had taken over your body. Before you knew it you had done the trick and were still up on your board, riding the wave till it ended and you bailed off. You couldn’t hear the cheers over the ocean until you hit the shore. Luke was first to you, attacking you with a hug before grabbing your board and taking you to wait by the judges stand.

2:00 pm - Your name being announced as the winner was such a blur. Luke led you to the podium and you both stood side by side with matching trophies and banners. “I am so proud of you.” He whispered in your ear, putting a lei over your head. “You got enough points to jump to number two.” “Are you serous?!” You squealed, “Really!?!” 

4:30pm - The teams were first to clear the beach, then the fans, then the media. You and Luke hid in our bungalow until they were gone, tradition as Luke would say. Hide until the leave so we can sneak in the water again. He took his back-up board and let you sit on it as he pushed it as far as he could before hopping on with you. “Safe to say, we killed it today.” You grinned, backing up to lean against his chest, “Thanks for all of the help.” “It wasn’t me, it was you. You did the heats, you did the final, all you, babe.” He kissed your shoulder, paddling to face you both away from shore. 

5:45pm - You were both wrinkly as could be, but your stomachs were also growling. As a celebration you decided to order a pizza as a cheat meal and that was your only motivation to go back to your hotel room. 

7pm - You yawned, crawling into the hot bath you had just run for yourself. “I’m exhausted.” Luke followed in suit, yawning as he entered the bathroom. “You got in the bath without inviting me?” “It’s got the weird bath bomb you don’t like.” You picked up the fizzing ball and tossed it back in, hiding yourself under the bubbles. “Correction, I don’t like the little leaves that go everywhere. But it smells amazing and it’s the muscle one, right?” 

7:20pm - You both relaxed in the bath, bubbles were dissolved, the little leaves were floating around. Most sport’s figures win something and go celebrate, they go out in public, they throw a party, etc. Most surfers have bonfires, they rent out a whole jet ski places for their team, and hire a luau to come to their rented house on the island. But every time you guys won anything you spent time on the beach, the place you were most thankful for. You got a cheat meal or a bit of dessert, you turned off your phones, and you relaxed. Most times that meant falling asleep before 8pm or finding the spa in the hotel, this time it was cuddling in a bathtub with little leaves floating around.

@LukeHemmings: Took a bath for too long and at some pizza. Quite the celebration for keeping #1 in the championship & winning the Oahu run. 

“We made it very obvious we bathed together and I don’t even care.” You mumbled, barely keeping your eyes open. “Shhhhh” Luke grabbed your phone and tossed it off the bed, “I love you but shhhhh.” “Alarm is set for eight, I feel like we deserve to sleep in.” You said, cuddling into his back and whispering, “Then we can go get pancakes.” Luke grinned to himself, pulling your arms around his body, “Can I have a bath and pancakes each time I win? I like it. I like you. I love you. Goodnight.”

IMAGINE BEACH SHOP WORKER LUKE BUSILY WORKING EVERY SATURDAY ON THE SEA FRONT, SELLING ICECREAMS AND SURFBOARDS, AND ONCE HIS SHIFT WAS OVER HE WOULD ALWAYS RUSH OUT BACK TO PULL ON HIS WETSUIT INSTEAD OF HIS BEACH BOY SHORTS AND SHIRT, GRABBING HIS BOARD FROM THE STAFF ROOM AND PADDING DOWN THE BEACH OUT INTO THE WAVES WHERE HE WOULD ACE EVERY WAVE HE TRIED, AND ONE DAY WHEN YOU WERE AT THE BEACH SHOP HE NOTICED YOU EYEING UP THE BOARDS, AND HE NERVOUSLY STUMBLED OVER TO YOU, AND YOU WOULD LOOK UP TO SEE THE GORGEOUS SURFER BOY STANDING OVER YOU, AND HE WOULD TIMIDLY ASK IF YOU SURF, AND WHEN YOU TELL HIM 'A BIT, I SUPPOSE," HE ASKS IF YOU WANT TO GO OUT INTO THE WAVES ONES HIS SHIFT IS OVER, TO WHICH YOU ACCEPT AND YOU RUN TO COLLECT YOUR WETSUIT, READY TO KICK BUTT BECAUSE REALLY, YOURE ACE AT SURFING
