long digits reach out to curl around a coffee mug. jaewook sighs, raking his fingers through his hair with his other free hand. sometimes, it helps to get away from the office to focus on his work. but today, he finds it hard to want to go back to work. he’s well and truly burnt out. he’s exhausted - and he loves his job, he truly does, but with how many hours he’s been putting in lately, it’s getting hard for him to want to go back.
his eyes close for a moment, and he leans his head back, letting out a slow breath. maybe he’ll just stay here for the rest of the day, he thinks. drink a few cups of coffee, have a scone or two, and just... breathe. he doesn’t give himself enough time to breathe.
his mug is empty, and so he stands up to order a refill. but out of the corner of his eye, he sees someone outside the coffee shop, standing next to someone in all black with their hood up. he’s sure that he can see a glint of silver, but he’s not too sure. maybe this is a sign, he thinks, a sign that he should definitely be getting back to work. he had kind of hoped this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.
but he’s not going to stand idly by and let this girl be harrassed by this stranger, who is most definitely up to no good. this girl is tiny, jaewook notices; what kind of man picks on a girl like her? he makes his way out of the coffee shop casually, hands stuffed in his pockets. but he turns to the man who’s hovering over the girl, eyes narrowed. ‘pardon me, sir, i do hope that you’ve got a concealed weapons permit, because if not, i’m going to have to arrest you,’ he says simply, flashing his badge at the pair.
