You know I'm still not over the fact that Liv and Barba didn't say I love you to each other in their last scene together

I was rewatching Forgiving Rollins again ( as one does ) and I'm just reminded of every interaction she'd ever had with Donald Cragen, baby girl always looked so tense and frightened around him.. Like there was something about his presence that made her uncomfortable.

I was never actually able to pinpoint what exactly it was in her face and eyes, why was she so tense? And after Forgiving Rollins it makes a lot more sense. Her past shaped her present and clearly still haunted her more than she would have liked.

Also, Amanda being reckless and so nonchalant about putting herself in these life threatening situations also makes sense after we learn she was raped in Atlanta. She doesn't feel worthy of life anymore, she blames herself for what Patton did to her and her family back home does too. Who is she to argue with them?

If her own family doesn't want her around, then she won't be around. She believes they'd be better off if she were dead and they haven't exactly given her any evidence to the contrary.

My poor sweet little lady, she deserves the world and more.

How can Liv continue to move up the ranks and yet still maintain the exact same role in investigations and cases? It doesn't make any sense.

HONESTLY. I mean in the original cast of SVU, Cragen did mostly supervision, though there were times he joined them in the field. 

This was probably bc they had more people: like enough people for at least two squads. Right now, they really don’t have that, especially after losing Carisi to the DA’s office. 

Like guys, I get you are on season twenty and you are probably paying Mariska a lot (probably meaning you are), but hire more people to be in your show?? 

Also can I say I hate that the first female DA head we’ve seen in a hot minute and they made her SHADY??? Like what is this? They better bring up why she was in Sir Toby’s office later, or I will riot.

New Barisi Theory

Okay, so this week our favorite Sonshine had a pocket square. Watching the evolution of Sonny's clothing this season has been fabulous. More so because it is starting to mirror our beloved former ADA so closely. (Just waiting to see him in suspenders!!!)

So, here's my latest working theory... Barisi is canon. We will see our missing beloved by season's end.

(Remember, Mariska did answer affimatively that Barba would be back during the Q&A portion of the Paley Center interview last summer)

My Theory continues thusly... Sonny is hurt in the line of duty. Barba is designated next of kin. Thus, our Barba return and confirmed canon Barisi.

I can also envision Sonny's injury being severe enough to force medical retirement (think Amaro's knee) at which time he makes his move to ADA. Most likely with SVU paving the way for Stone to spin to Hate Crimes.
