Han and Leia (Parody of “Break Free”) - Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2025 - Free Day 7

Hi there! I'm Kiki and I'm a singer/musical theatre performer who also happens to be completely unwell about Han and Leia (shocker).

I first watched Star Wars at sixteen years old. I watched the original trilogy first before I watched the prequels and sequels. I absolutely fell in love with the story/characters and instantly started shipping Han and Leia.

After practically forgetting about Star Wars and not watching the movies for years, my family and I randomly decided to watch Empire Strikes Back in the summer of 2025. I fell back in love with it and I was desperately trying to find an online community who still cared about Han and Leia. I was so lucky to find out about the Han/Leia Appreciation Week event! I created my Tumblr account in July of 2025 to join the fandom discussion and I don't regret it for one second. 🥹

Back in early 2017, I started writing a song about Han and Leia with a fellow songwriter. Ultimately, I let go of the project. However, I knew I wanted to do something for Han/Leia Appreciation Week, so I decided to resurrect my old song from the dead. I gave it a major glow up by re-recording the song, re-writing some lyrics, and filming a music video for it!

My Star Wars parody of "Break Free" called "Han and Leia" was published on August 17th, 2025. It is absolutely nerve-racking to put your work out there, but I love music and Star Wars so much and I want to share my creativity with the world. So it's here, it exists, and I'm so proud of it.

If you watch this, I hope it makes you smile. I hope you even sing along. And I hope it makes you remember why Han and Leia are the blueprint.
