"I'm still saying that you're stupid." Floyd grumbles as he tucks the sheets in around his brother's legs determinedly. "Who ever heard of an eel gettin' sick cause he got wet? Maybe them transformation potions broke somethin' in us."
Working his way up Jade's body, Floyd makes sure that he can turn on his side if he wants but hardly more than that. He was still considering the idea of just outright tying Jade to the bed to make sure he stayed still long enough to get better.
"Don't make me call mom." He warned in a low voice, leaning in to nuzzle his cheek against Jade's forehead. "She'll worry. Now get some shut eye for a couple hours and I'll bring ya some soup when it's done."

Jade Leech prides himself on his composure. His cool, calm, and collection composure comes as easily as breathing. Normally, Jade would have gotten up at seven in the morning but today something pushes him back into bed, weighing heavily on his limbs and his chest. His body feels tones heavier and something deep in him warns that he probably should skip school today.
It must be something in the food, he mumbles to himself. Jade being adventurous with his palate wasn't quite a secret among his fellow Octavinelle students. He's always delighted to try new things, be it food on land or in the Coral Sea. Maybe the mollusks from yesterday had gone bad. With shivering hands, Jade reaches for his bed post to push himself up once more, only to be pushed back down, but this time, by none other than his twin brother Floyd.
He blearily watches Floyd's lips as he mumbles something โ whatever Floyd is trying to tell him, it's practically inaudible to Jade now. He lets out another hefty sneeze and Floyd scowls, shoving a thermometer into his mouth as he lifts his sheets to tuck Jade back in, gesture soft and gentle.
"I'm... sick?" He echoes Floyd's thoughts. It's true, eels getting sick was unheard of. The chillness of the rain on land had been nothing compared to the temperature in the deep sea. Why would he get sick simply for neglecting to bring an umbrella? Perhaps Floyd is right: the transformation truly did break something in them.
"Ah... I wouldn't want Mother to worry. Please keep this a secret." Jade croaks weakly. "It's just a cold. I think. There's no need to trouble Mother." Floyd's warmth against his chest felt good, better than usual. Jade feels his body welcoming it, soaking in the heat as if he'd been deprived of it all his life. He musters enough strength to push Floyd away after a heartbeat, waving him off with a weakened and fragile smile. "You needn't take care of me, Floyd. Don't you have class? I'll do just fine on my own, worry not."
