“Rafe,” you breathed, stumbling back as you felt your knees give out.
“Baby?” Rafe asked, turning around to look at you. When he saw the blood seeping out of your shoulder, fear over took his mind, dropping the gun and rushing over to you, catching you in his arms the second you started falling to the ground.
“Rafe?” You asked, voice barely in a whisper as you felt your energy draining.
“I’m right here, baby,” he explained, ripping off part of his shirt, to hold against your wound.
“It hurts,” you sobbed. “Rafey, it really hurts.”
“I know, I know.” he cooed, keeping the pressure on. “Just keep breathing baby, I’m gonna get you help. Dad!” Rafe yelled, looking back at his family as he watched Sarah crying and John B running. “Dad! Help, she needs an ambulance!”
“Shut up!” Ward yelled, walking over to Sarah.
“Rafe,” you let out, gaining his attention.
“Shh, shh,” he cooed, wiping your face with one of his hands. “It’s okay, it’s okay, baby. I’m going to get you help.”
“Rafe,” Ward let out, walking over to the two of you. “Get her home. Take her and Sarah home.”
“What?” Rafe yelled. “Are you crazy? Y/N is bleeding Dad! She needs to go to the hospital!”
“Rafe, if they find out what happened here, you’re going to be in big trouble. Just take Sarah and Y/N home.”
“I’m taking her to the hospital!” Rafe yelled.
“Fine, but take Sarah home first, have the ambulance meet you back home.”

“Rafe,” you mumbled, your head falling on his arm as he drove you home, as Sarah kept pressure on your wound.
“Shh, shh, baby,” Rafe cooed. “Just save your energy. We’re almost home, the ambulance will be there soon. Baby, we’re gonna get you help.” Rafe watched as you started to close your eyes, pulling into the driveway. “Baby, hey. Baby keep your eyes open!”
Rafe turned off the car, the sirens in the background, as he carefully picked you up, cradling you against his chest as he got out of the car.
Rose watched fear and confusion on her face, as she watched you bleeding, and Sarah getting out of the truck. “What happened?” She asked. “Why aren’t you on the plane?”
“Ask Rafe,” Sarah let out, walking into the house.
“Baby,” Rafe cooed, “baby wake up!” Rafe watched as the ambulance pulled up, and everyone started walking towards her. “Help!” He yelled. “Help, she's been shot.”

Rafe paced around the waiting room, ignoring as everyone started to frantically and quickly move around when Shoupe and his dad brought Peterkin in. He only broke out of his thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“How is she?” Ward asked, gaining Rafe’s attention.
“Why do you care?” Rafe yelled. “You were just going to let her lay there and die!”
“Rafe, shut up!” Ward yelled, putting his hand up over Rafe's mouth. “Of course I care,” he whispered, leaning in. “I just had to do what’s best for the family.”
All of a sudden the door, bursted open and your parents came running in, straight to Rafe, who had freed himself from Ward's grip.
“Where’s my baby girl?” Your mom yelled, sobs wracking her entire body. “Is she going to be okay?”
“Son, what happened?” Your dad asked, putting his hand on Rafe’s shoulder, as the tears were welling in his eyes.
“She was shot,” Ward explained.
“By whom?” your dad asked, a coldness growing in his eyes.
“John B.” Ward let out. “The same kid who shot the sheriff.
“Oh, my poor baby girl.” Your mom sobbed.
As the night went on, Ward went back home, and your parents sat anxiously waiting in the waiting room chairs as Rafe continued his pacing.
“Mr. Cameron?” A nurse asked, walking into the waiting room, halting Rafe’s pacing.
“How is she?” He asked, walking up to her, as your parents stood up. “Is she okay?”
“Mrs. Cameron will be just fine. She just got out of surgery to remove the bullet and should wake up in the next 8 to 12 hours.”
“Can I see her?” Rafe asked, a tear slipping down his face.

The night quickly faded into a blur as Rafe sat by your side, holding your hand in his, begging for you to be okay, crying about how sorry he was.
“Rafe?” Wheezie asked, knocking on the door, before opening it, knocking Rafe out of his thoughts, looking up at his youngest sister.
“Wheezie? What are you doing here? What time is it?”
“It’s nine. Things are really crazy back at home, Rafe. I’m honestly kinda scared. Dad and Rose are acting really weird. Dad locked Sarah in her room. Y/N was shot. Rafe what’s going on?”
“They didn’t tell you?” Rafe asked, looking back down to his wife.
“Nobody tells me anything.”
“Um,” Rafe let out, squeezing your hand. “So, John B… killed Sheriff Peterkin, and in the process he shot Y/N.”
“Is she gonna be okay?”
“The doctors said she’s stable. Should wake up soon. Does Dad or Rose know you’re here?”
“No.”
“You should head home before they freak out. I’ll text you when she’s awake and up for visitors okay?”
“Okay.” Wheezie let out, going over to Rafe, wrapping her arms around him. “I love you, Rafe.”
“I love you too, Wheeze. Me and Y/N both do.”
Once Wheezie softly shut the door Rafe let himself brake down.
“Baby,” Rafe sobbed. “I’m so, so, so sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I love you with all my heart. Baby please wake up. You’re so strong, honey. Please my love, please wake up. If not for me for your parents. For Wheezie. Gosh I never meant for any of this to happen. I promised in my vows that I would protect you, and I didn’t do that. Baby, please, please be okay.”
“‘S not your fault,” you mumbled, groggily fluttering your eyes open, looking over at Rafe with half open eyes.
“Baby,” Rafe sighed, smiling, softly kissing your head. “How are feeling, baby?”
“I don’t know,” you mumbled, noticing the tears falling down his face, reaching your arm out as best as you could to wipe a tear away. “Don’t cry. Baby, please don’t cry.”
“I was so worried about you.” Rafe cried.
“I’m okay. Baby I’m okay. Hey, this is not your fault okay.”
“Baby, it is–”
“No it’s not my love. This isn’t your fault.”
There was a knock on the door, followed by the doctor walking in with a clipboard, smiling when she saw you awake.
“Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Cameron. I’m happy to see that you are both awake this morning.
“How is she doc?” Rafe asked, holding your hand in his.
“She’s going to be perfectly fine. We had to undergo a lot of different surgeries considering your circumstance. But we were able to get the bullet out, and the bleeding to stop. There was already someone else's blood on the bullet, but we were able to drain it and do blood transfusions to prevent any infections to the wound sight. But both Mrs. Cameron and the baby were strong and are going to be perfectly fine.”
“Baby?” You asked, looking from her to Rafe who was also confused. “What baby?”
“Do you not know?” The doctor asked.
“Know what,” Rafe cut in, holding your hand tighter.
“Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Cameron, you’re going to be parents. It looks like you are about 12 in a half weeks. We would like to keep you here for a while to monitor both you and the baby to make sure nothing else happens. I’ll let you two have a moment.”
