You don't just battle Swiggler alone. You also battle the saucers they power up, the purple Bullet Bills the saucers shoot out, and the Dr. Shroobs that power it up (or make them sick).

With all this, it makes perfect sense why this is the first boss fight in the game where you control all four brothers.

mario kun may be a goofy manga but the shroobs are still their destructive selves and they even made swiggler even more disturbing by directly draining the life out of toads instead of them being strapped onto trees
