Did Isolde fraternize with any of the other grandparents (prudence Artie etc) or did she stay far far away from them
she must have! riverdale is a small town, there’s only so many people you can talk to. i haven’t really put too much thought into her dynamic with the other grandparents because so many of them haven’t been properly developed, but i imagine she must have crossed paths with at least a few of them at some point. this is riverdale we’re talking about…surely, there’s some history there.
i like to imagine isolde was a wild child in her youth– not the free-spirited, confident, carefree kind but the reckless, impulsive, acting-out-for-attention kind. the girl did everything she possibly could to get her father to notice her. her mother was strict, but that didn’t stop isolde from sneaking out of the house and breaking curfew. or raiding her mother’s medicine cabinet. or having drunken hook-ups in the master bedrooms of her peers’ houses. she was out of control.
taking all of that into consideration, i imagine she and prudence would have been natural enemies. or, at the very least, prudence did not think highly of isolde and steered clear. same goes for lewis. rodger probably viewed her as just another spoiled, northside skank. hiram’s mom, angel that she was, always shared her coke with her. hermione’s mom thought she was okay…they weren’t really friends, but she didn’t have anything against her. isolde definitely tried to put the moves on forsythe at a key party once after popping several quaaludes. whether or not her accepted her proposition, i’ll let you decide.
you know bunny and artie better than i do! what do you think they thought of her? did they ever talk?
Do you have any headcanons about bunny and prudence when they were in high school 👉👈
Oooooooh. I have a strong feeling they were cheerleaders together. Back in the 60s when those pleated skirts were a little longer and the girls wore sweaters over them when it was colder. I can see them both being fairly popular. They weren't ruling the school or anything but they were both well liked. They had one of those "sweet friend, loud friend" dynamics.
They probably went on double dates sometimes too. If Bunny said she didn't want to go out one night Prudence would stay in with her in solidarity. Prudence was probably also very excited when they both got steady boyfriends because she had a million date ideas to try out and she wanted their boyfriends to be best friends like them. Prudence was very "come over my house after school and we can bake for our boyfriends together" because she was really that type.
are we all agreed first gen parentdale grew up in the 1960s, then? trying to do the math backward always makes my head hurt
If the parents were all born around 1975, then yes! It makes sense that the grandparents would have been in high school in the early to mid 60s if they all had kids around the same time too. Which they did... because Riverdale.
So the name of Fred's mother is Virginia
I still like Bunny, bit Virgina is good too!
How did Riverdale (the town) look like during the Sexual Revolution?
Riverdale was always a wholesome, picturesque town by day and a place of sin and debauchery by night.
Many of the grandparents had some wild swingers parties at the height of it all, before they were parents themselves. (Hal's parents attended but only as research for the newspaper of course!) Keys were exchanged. People went home with others. And everyone acted like everything was peachy at the book club two days later.
Nana Rose threw some crazy orgies whenever her husband was out of town too. Perhaps rented a floor at the Five Seasons or did them at the Blossom hunting lodge.
