Awwww I'm honored!!! Okay I'll give you a bunch then--
An au where Kanan and Hera meet and not long after the Force decides "hey, this lady is super smart. We should give her the ability to control plants so that she can gather all the Jedi to fight back against the Empire!" And so Hera gets that and becomes the prophesied Queen of the Jedi and Kanan is her number one guard and is kinda overprotective and Ezra is still his young punk apprentice and yes this is based off of Epic why do you ask--
When Ezra yeets himself into hyperspace he shoots himself and Thrawn back into time and they get stuck in a four year time loop in which Thrawn keeps trying to kill him and Ezra keeps trying to save the day and accidentally keeps bringing people back with him whenever the loop resets (Sabine, Ahsoka, Kallus, Rex, etc.). Also the only way to break the time loop is to save Kanan
laskdjlfsjkdlfkds I almost forgot about this one-- a Star Wars-ified Anne of Green Gables inspired au that I literally created solely for A) Hera smashing a slate (or in this case, datapad) over Kanan's head and B) the friends to lovers arc. Also if you haven't read/watched Anne of Green Gables, do. It's amazing
Zootopia Kanera au. I haven't gone too in depth in this au, but I THINK it speaks for itself
Okay imagine if Kanan wound up on Tatooine and bumped into Obi-Wan who decided he needed to adopt this young punk that he recognized from the Temple to make sure he doesn't get himself killed and Kanan sasses him all the time but stays with him most of the time and travels the galaxy other times and definitely brings Hera home and Obi-Wan makes them tea and ships them and she reminds him of Satine HECK I MADE MYSELF SAD
Another Batman!au, but Hera's Batman and Kanan is Catwoman. This is inspired solely by this scene in Batman: The Animated Series where Catwoman's all "you know there's something between us" and Batman's like "yeah. Unfortunately, it's the law" and while I know Hera hates puns it just HAD THEIR VIBES
Hmmm, it's hard to choose one to end on. Uhhhhhhhhhh not gonna lie my accidental rom-com slaps but like. I wanna keep that one under wraps and not post about it. So let me leave you with these words-- Jacen and Kanan Frequency Au
I don’t see them staying on Lira San long term. Like long term long term. Eventually, they move back to Lothal where Hera, Jacen, Rex, Sabine, and eventually Ezra and Sabine and Ezra's kids settle.
At first, they do, live there for four and a half years with the exceptions of going to visit Hera and Jacen and Sabine and Rex on Lothal for a month every year around the time of Kanan’s death anniversary and the celebrations of the anniversary of the liberation of the planet. But otherwise, their Lothal apartment sits empty for their house on Lira San in a neighborhood that’s been sat aside for Lasan refugees(which some has married Lasan lasats, but still).
It’s nice. Zeb loves being among the Lasan refugees, and they’re a very closeknit community. They speak a dialect very different from the Lira San lasats, so it sounds like long forgotten home when they all gather for a party. Their house is a place for them, Garazeb and Alek. There’s no war, no fighting. There is peace, for the first time in decades. There is love, and they don’t have to worry about when the next mission will be. If there will be a kiss and embrace after that next mission. It’s mundane stuff, like Zeb not cleaning well enough, that causes fights. Evenings are spent by the fireplace, kissing and telling stories of their days. They get engaged in that house. They slow dance to music alone, just to hold each other. Life is slow, life is full of love, and everyone knows how much they love each other.
But while it’s nice, it’s also so isolating. Lira San is completely isolated from the galaxy. The HoloNet doesn’t reach there, and communications are hard to get in and out. And while at first, it's a much needed reprive from the war, eventually, they miss being able to just call up Hera or Sabine and catch up or just talk. Alek hates feeling out of touch with the Galaxy, not knowing what's going on. A new war could be going outside of their safe haven and he would have no knowledge of it and it grinds on the former intelligence agent in him. Zeb hates being out of touch with their family, he misses them a lot, wonders what they're up to, if they're okay. There's many late nights where they can't sleep where they wonder what is going on in the stars they can see from their backyard. Wondering if they're bad soldiers for choosing to live so isolated from the Galaxy, but this is their chance to live as people, not soldiers.
Lira San itself also isn't the greatest. Zeb has to learn a new dialect and then teach it to Alek and the LS Lasats are just different from Lasan Lasat. Most of them could care less about the Fall of Lasan, but turn their nose up at the different traditions Lasan had made in the two thousand years since the split. Zeb doesn't take kindly to that. And Alek will never fully forgive himself for Lasan. Seeing all these Lasat will always be a reminder that they should be on Lasan, loving among Zeb's people, not their weird cousins. Zeb fully believes, however, that without the fall of Lasan, that he never would've met Alek or Kanan or anyone else in their family and in the safety of their bed, Zeb confides that he would choose this life over any other. Losing everything led to gaining something far more precious. But he knows the reminders constantly wear on Alek's mental health. And so is being the only human on Lira San(Possibly the only non-Lasat). There's definitely a lot of speciest comments made in Lasat made towards Alek about being a human by the natives because they don't actually believe he's fluent. It's part of why they prefer the refugees, who are used to being around other species.
Some natives are nice though, they befriend one female Lasat whose mate ran off when she got pregnant. When the kit is three months, she dies in an accident and leaves the kit to them, knowing they're ready to expand their family. They love it, love their little girl, but it brings up a lot more questions. What language do they speak to the child in? How do they raise a daughter when they're isolated from the most important people in their lives? Where do they truly want to raise their family? How do they even travel when Lira San medicine and newborn vaccines are so different from the Galaxy proper, leaving the baby susceptible to a number of illnesses before they can get her to Lothal and in for a newborn appointment?
The next year, Ezra comes back. Hera manages to get a message so they're there waiting at the landing platform when Ahsoka's ship arrives. They spend three months on Lothal and they thrive. They still get their space in their apartment, but they also get a lot of time with their family that they missed. Everyone coos over their newest addition, and the baby takes super well to Basic. Alek enjoys a more centralized life and getting to get back with seeing a therapist regularly, always coming home a bit more content.
Lira San was good for their honeymoon years, but it was never a longterm home, Zeb admits, too many people shoved into Hera's living room. They keep their home for vacations, their eventual adopted Ithorian son loves visiting most of all. But Lothal was always going to be their forever home.
“STRUGGLING WITH READING (LIKE DYSLEXIA/DYSGRAPHIA) AND THE CREW REACTING TO YOU TRYING TO FAKE IT ANYWAYS (STAR WARS REBELS)”
requester: @intellectualasexual // request here
When you first met the crew, you didn’t tell them about your dyslexia or dysgraphia, and preferred to keep both conditions to yourself
It was easier to hide your dysgraphia, mostly because you could use datapads for any notes you needed to take or messages that you needed to write
Though it sometimes also affected your fine motor skills, which you tried to hide on missions by working alone
And lots of times, you avoided being the one to read out data to the rest of the time, waiting for someone else to do it
It was Hera who noticed first, who noticed your hesitancy around certain situations
And how you would isolate yourself on missions or find workarounds for tasks she thought you would have no problem with
Hera talking with Kanan first, asking him if he noticed, which he did, but he just assumed that was how you were, and didn’t really see it as a problem that had to be addressed at first
But Hera wanted to address it, as gently as possible, because she could tell that it was causing you anxiety to hide what you were struggling with
Her talking to you about it one night in the cockpit, and you, after some hesitation, finally opening up and explaining your dyslexia and dysgraphia
Hera: “I’m glad you told me, y/n. How can we help?”
After that conversation, Hera really worked to make sure you were never put on the spot or pressured to read out data or something for the group, and she never rushed you when you did
The others caught on pretty quickly, even Zeb picked up on Hera’s patience and stopped trying to rush you on missions or get you more stressed
Zeb: “Don’t worry, I’ll worry about keeping the bucketheads off our backs. I know you can do this.”
And the lessened stress actually helped a lot
The team got better at discussing notes or what they were reading on datapads or holograms, to discreetly keep you in the loop in times when you were struggling with taking in all the information that was being given
Sabine actually worked to develop better visual aids to help with planning missions, maps and schematics to help you visualize exactly what the plan was
The team always being open to listen when you had to vent your frustrations, and them always being sympathetic and understanding
All of them are really good about making accommodations for you, often just making small adjustments to make your life easier
My very small contribution to #rebelsremembered! I wish I had the time to have written a fanfiction or made a video, or the talent to have drawn something, because I can’t express how much this show meant to me. But alas.
Anyway! Here are a few of my Rebels headcanons. It would be really fun if people added on, so if you feel like it please reblog this with your headcanons too!
Kanan is the Ghost crew’s regular cook, because he’s good at it and has lots of knowledge on the subject and *Sith holocron voice* knowledge is power
Zeb is technically the best cook, but only has three dishes that are edible for humans
Hera never had time for cooking and never learned. She tried once. Kanan laughed so hard he cried
Sabine and Ezra both end up burning the meal. Heaven forbid they cook together *distant sounds of the Ghost’s kitchen turning into a charred inferno of doom*
Now moving on from cooking to the more angsty stuff:
Zeb was the oldest brother in a family of seven. That family died in the Empire’s invasion of Lasan and he never talks about them
Kanan’s last words were actually telling Hera that he loved her too- right before Pryce shot the fuel pod
Hera didn’t name Jacen after her brother. Kanan just once said he liked the name, and she remembered
Much like his father, Jacen asked a lot of questions in his early years
Alrich Wren (Sabine’s father) became Mandalore’s representative in the New Republic
Hera has a fear of spiders. Not the big ones on Atollon, but the small ones. Tiny, creepy-crawly things freak her out because she can’t locate or shoot them
After the battle of Lothal she found one in her room and thought about calling Kanan to squish it before she realized
Generally Chopper is happy to kill them for her and never mocks her dislike of them
Every year after their freedom the citizens of Lothal have parades with giant space whale balloons
i have a cold right now so i may as well take the opportunity to write some SWR sick headcanons:
ezra turns into a complete zombie when he’s sick. tissues stuffed up both nostrils, mouth breathing loudly, only communicates in grunts and groans. if he has to move he’s moves at a zombie’s pace and he groans all the way there and back. ezra tries meditating (with a tissue stuffed up his nose) but fails shortly after when his eyes begin to water and goes into a sneezing fit.
sabine is not to be disturbed. she lies on her bed in her room in complete darkness bar from a small crack in the door that hera and kanan have left open to they can check up on her. her number 1 remedy for sickness is sleeping 24/7. she only allows hera in to bring her some plain food and drinks and no one is allowed to speak too loudly around the ship.
zeb is on his bed surrounded by a mountain of tissues. he gets extremely irritable when sick. and if chopper dares teasing him any way, well, expect chopper to go hurtling through the air at 100 mph. don’t mess with a sick zeb. he also spends an hour in the shower. this can be heard by the banging on the door from ezra and sabine wanting to brush their teeth, and this is met with a loud ‘’GO AWAY I’M BUSY’’ from the other side of the door.
kanan turns into a zombie like ezra. (that’s where ezra gets it from. like father like son) he’s in his boxer shorts and a shirt listening to tv surrounded by snacks and tissues. (snacks include chips, m&m’s, a full jar of peanut butter with a spoon sticking out of it, etc.) kanan sick eats, even though he can hardly taste a thing. he listens to reruns of his favorite shows and listens to some of his old favorite cartoons he used to watch as a kid. hera checks up on him to find him conked out snoring on the couch with the tv still on.
hera is the famous sick denier. she hates being sick so she’ll do anything in her power to try and prevent it from fully taking affect. it all starts with a sneeze and kanan gives her a look, she sternly says ‘’i’m fine’’ and blows her nose. kanan pretends to shrug it off but he knows hera’s coming down with a cold. there’s no time dilly dallying with ‘’natural’ remedies, she goes straight for the hardcore stuff. spraying decongestant up her nose, taking a dozen cough drops, taking vitamins, etc but inevitably it catches up with her and she has to accept her fate. hera is snuggled up in her and kanan’s shared bed, 3 boxes of tissues by her side, hardly able to get a word out through all her coughing and sneezing and blowing her nose. hera get’s affected by cold’s the worst. she lays in her room moping and cursing to whatever gods there are as to why they gave her this terrible cold. kanan comes in the room with some food he made for her and blows her a kiss. she smiles at this sweet gesture ...before sneezing 5 times in a row.
Headcanon that Ezra kind of takes in orphans/street rats/kids who don't have a good home and makes sure they have some form of love and support. Because when he sees these kids all alone and lost he remembers all too well how that was him and how the Ghost crew took him in and gave him a home and he wants to be able to help kids in the same way. Most of the time, he finds a home for them or is able to help them in other ways, but they all remember the man who helped them when no one else would. Some of them stay with him and he raises them alongside his own kids. Just...Ezra being a mentor/father figure to a lot of kids because honestly he would be such a good one...albeit a dorky one ;p
And for now on, the most important planetary holiday on Lothal is The Day Of The Purrgils, I guess.
The kids are running around with Purrgil-shaped balloons, there's a whole lot of cheesy paintings, figurines and other knick-knacks, the holo-vid recordings of the Purrgils are studied in detail and kept as a good fortune charms for the household.
The most adventurous Lothal scientists are venturing into the outer space hoping to see them up close and study their behavior and so on.
(Sabine definitely made sure that the wolves are also popping out from everywhere - for Kanan - and the remaining rebels definitely told stories, but that doesn't have the same kick as the Purrgils. )
