It makes carrying on that bit lighter though, with Kay-too and Melshi’s company. Makes it harder to wallow in his heartbreak when there are cards and tiles and laughter, filling in the cracks, light spilling outward. That there is still someone there to shepherd him in out of the storm when things go sideways. Someone who knows what it is to never have hands that will be truly clean. Cassian’s not sure he could ever truly describe how grateful he is, or how lucky it was that Melshi turned up on Yavin when he did.

Now that authors have been revealed I can finally share this fic I wrote for @swrarepairs exchange! I had a lot of fun writing this fic, I hope you’ll check it out <3

Dear SWrarepairs Author

First of all, thank you for writing for me! No matter what, I absolutely can’t wait to see what you come up with. I’m pretty easy as far as fics go. If you want to ignore everything in this post and only incorporate the pairing, that’s fine! I enjoy anything from tooth-rotting fluff to soul-rending angst, any rating at all, and I have to triggers or DNWs to speak of. I’d prefer no noncon/cheating/violence/etc between the main ship, but if they’re included elsewhere, as long as there’s a heads-up, that’s fine.

As for what I do like, my very favorite thing in the world is hurt/comfort, particularly of the emotional variety. If, even metaphorically, someone is crying and someone is hugging them, I am very happy. Being an anxiety sufferer myself, I also have a soft spot for seeing characters dealing with mental illness stuff, anxiety and depression particularly, especially if their partner/partners are there being super supportive and helping them through it. Any kind of porn with feelings also never goes amiss. I’m also aromantic asexual, so I aboslutely love to see my faves being represented as on either or both of those spectrums.

As you can probably tell from my request list, my aboslute favorite part of Star Wars is the fighter pilots. I love the angst inherent in the contant battles and always being on call and losing people. The stress and exhaustion. Pilot/pilot pairings knowing they could the other in a battle at any time. Pilot/non-pilot pairings with the non-pilot feeling so helpless as they watch their partner go off to fight and so relieved when they come back. Commanders hurting becuase they care about their pilots so much yet there’s only so much they can do to protect them, and every death hurts so much. Just - pilot feels!!

As for notes on the particular pairings I requested:

Larma D’Acy/Wrobie Tyce - Just wanna hear more about these wives!

Luke Skywalker/Tycho Celchu - Tycho might be my favorite Star Wars character; there’s just so much angst and h/c potential with everything he’s been through. The appeal in shipping him with Luke for me is Luke being able to use the Force to sense how much he’s hurting and do his best to help make that easier. Post-Lusankya, welcoming him to the Rebellion after Alderaan, something during his trial, anything!

Wedge Antilles/Tycho Celchu/Luke Skywalker - All the good things of these three pairings together. What could go wrong?

Wedge Antilles/Tycho Celchu - I’m just gonna copy from swrarepairs past:  yelling* My #1 OTP! 10/10 will adore anything where they’re together. Something set during that  first six months after Tycho’s defection where Wedge was afraid to get close to him and wouldn’t even call him by his first name? Yep. Any type of Lusankya-related angst? Yep. Trial-related angst? Yep. Tycho comforting Wedge when the burdens of command are too much? Yep. Wedge comforting Tycho when the burdens of command are too much? Yep. Literally anything? Yeeeep.

I didn’t expect to be drawn to so many of the oc pairings, but of course it was the siren song of pilot characters. I don’t have a lot of notes for these; they speak for themselves to me with Feelings possibilities. All I can really say is I would definitely prefer to see these OCs be queer, on any (or more than one!) axis.

Antoc Merrick never wanted to be in the middle of Mon Mothma's fling with her spymaster. But that's exactly where his substandard sabaac face has landed him.

Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Summary: They're safe. They're together. They've got a good thing going with the shuttle business. But a customer who knows too much about Kirney Slane might bring it all burning down around them...

Authors are revealed and I can own up to my SWRarepairs fic! Written for @syrena-of-the-lake​, who is maybe the only other person on earth who feels as strongly about Myn and Lara as I do.

On the ninth day, finally, Myn finds the nerve to say, "Look, I don't— I mean— I don't have other plans. For a while. For, uh, ever."

"Oh," Kirney says, and puts her mug down a little too hard, splashes caf on the table. "So. Then... you'll stay? A while?"

"A while," Myn agrees, and then risks a smile that he's sure is more of a grimace and adds, "As long as you want me, I guess."

So that works out, more or less. And he's getting the hang of the business. And most nights Kirney sits leaned up against him on the couch working on her datapad, her head resting on his shoulder, or they go out somewhere and she tucks her hand into the crook of his elbow as they walk. And once— just once, so far, but that's more than he dared expect, probably more than he deserves— she leans over the back of the couch and catches his face between her hands and kisses him, and for once, for those few long seconds, he's not thinking it can't last, it'll all fall apart sooner or later but something like it's worth it, it's worth it, it's worth it.

It's honestly unfair, considering how much time he does spend worrying about when this will all come burning down around them, that he hardly sees it coming when it finally happens.

Okay, so over a week ago, the Star Wars rarepair exchange ended and I’m really excited to say that I was able to participate this year! I didn’t get nearly as much done as I wanted, because of school, but I had a lot of fun and I think I really improved my fanfic writing skills. So, I published on gift for whalebone (who is an amazing writer btw, you should check them out on ao3).

Bodhi Rook is pretty sure he’s just friends with Kay. It’s okay if he thinks about Kay all the time and stares at him (he’s tall and attractive after all). He’s not in love with Kay, they’re friends, nothing more.

Alright, so I only published one thing, but I started a ton of WIPs (and nearly completed most of them), so keep on the lookout, I might suddenly start publishing a ton of stuff ;)

Something Broken About This by whalebone - Bodhi Rook/K-2SO - 3548 words - Rated G:

It's late, and Bodhi is acting strangely. K-2SO is worried.

It has a soft Kay!! There were bits of this that nearly made me cry, it’s very beautifully written and I love how Bodhi’s PTSD was addressed throughout. 10/10 my go-to fic for comfort. 

Greater Good by ambiguously - Padme Amidala/Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker - 1881 words - Rated E:

Palpatine had been a visionary, and had orchestrated the division of the galaxy for the sake of strengthening the whole. Padmé had merely completed his work with the help of the two men she loved.

This piece manages to be a DarksideAU! while keeping all the characters, well, in character. The sex was realistic and the threesome has beautiful chemistry. I also loved the allusions to the rebellion and Mandalore!

It was the last night before the election—her last night as the First Naboo Royal Handmaiden to Queen Amidala—and Sabé could not sleep.

Ah, the pure fluff and tenderness of this fic was almost too much to handle. It’s very sweet and loving and almost cavity inducing sweet! 12/10 would recommend for anyone who needs a cheerer-upper!

Let’s talk about the Star Wars Rare Pair Exchange 2018

It opens SOON! Like REALLY SOON!
