I get why some people might be intimidated by the concept of writing out a quote from a physical copy of a book into an online format, especially if it's a particularly long quote, I think it's reasonable to not want to type out two-pages-worth of words for the sake of the slight chance that somebody with a screen reader might stumble upon your post but when it's literally just ten words, or two sentences or even a small paragraph, I don't see an excuse for not making it accesable to visually-impaired people. Even if you are a small blog, it's not about the likelihood of somebody with a screen-reader stumbling on your post, it's about you being considerate enough to account for that, as a real-life example, just because there is no constant physically disabled population in a certain area, doesn't mean it should be inaccessible to them completely. I think it's ridiculous for people to take a screenshot/photo of a quote consisting of five words when you can type it out easily. That is all.
Edit: I want to make it clear that I myself am not visually impaired, but I care far too much about issues that don't directly affect me, which I am not ashamed of, it's a good thing, if anything, since a lot of people only care about issues related to themselves; in any case, I am aware that visually impaired people have voices of their own to point these things out but an extra reminder never hurt anyone.
7, 13, 20, A, B, H for jolly old ALFALFA.
7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
Nostalgia only matters to him when it concerns individual people. Everything else; places, things, foods, customs, sooner or later he’ll find something on another world that’s almost just like it, close enough. Regardless of how he might wax dramatic about stuff he’s experienced before, he probably doesn’t bat an eye at it anymore. Except with people. But with people, no matter how similar they are, the differences matter. Those differences probably sadden him even as he appreciates them.
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Hmm, that one’s tough to definitively answer without further experiments. His hair is such a bright, typically unnatural shade of red, it can be tricky. He may favor other strong colors that can contrast with it as long as the outfit doesn’t fall into tasteless fashion sense. When he’s just trying to blend in with a human populace, though, autumn colors seem to work very well for him.
20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
Either with short pointed remarks aimed to rile someone up rather than answer the question for them, or with long winded introspection with numerous references to plays and ballads if he were seriously considering the question and its answer. He is very mixed on familial love, though, with his opinion of a family you built being much warmer and having a colder attitude towards the family he was born into.
A) Why are you excited about this character?
Two main reasons. He’s the type of more active character who will make things happen and things will get more interesting as a result. Passive characters who go with the flow can get boring or even frustrating because they play it safe and avoid stirring things up. Al will passively observe when it’s needed and poke the hornet’s nest when he can’t resist. The other reason is because he’s become a fully realized personality and identity that feels very alive by now, ask me a question about him and it won’t take long to think what the answer is because his history or personality will make that answer seem obvious.
B) What inspired you to create them?
Well, his beginning was really as simple as needing a character playing a roll counter to Nevys in FTaBV. Someone with the potential to be an ally later. His personality wasn’t initially intended to be a foil to Nevys, my first concept of Nevys even had more of Al’s personality and quirks, although meant more as fake posturing. He very quickly departed from that image and those traits seemed to all slide over and latch onto Al.
H) What trait do you admire most?
Ah ha ha... His self-confidence and lack of embarrassment when doing things. I am the passive type of personality who doesn’t follow through on so many things I’d like to do or try or accomplish. Al may fail but at least he has the energy, motivation, and self assurance to try.
Guess who's back
Bingo it's Sylph
Jesus Christ Ratio is an incredibly lonely person
Amphoreus is destroying me guys I cannot stop thinking about parallels of the world potentially being a simulation and sburb
I want 2 classpect welt so bad
I really want to
But do y’all know how much media I have 2 consume in order 2 understand him?
Webcomic
2 games
And a visual novel irrc.
And even then I don’t think this is all the media that he appears in. I am sure there’s more.
Sure I can just stick to just one medium, but I’d be heavily missing other parts of his character that probably wouldn’t appear in the other 3.
Seeing all the Adventurine/Dr Ratio and Kaveh/Alhaitham parallels make me chuckle a lil bit because they share aspects with each other
