today's funky frog of the day: the zombie frog (Synapturanus zombie)!!!! this frog was very recently discovered- it was only described in 2021! these pointy friends live in the northern part of the amazon forest! scientists estimate that there may be many more species in this genus that are yet to be discovered.

Zombie Frog
measures about 1.5 inches.
Got its name based on how the researchers (Ernst and his colleagues) looked after pawning through the mud to find it.
Part of the genus Synapturanus.
Was discovered in Guyana, South America.
They are nocturnal and live underground. Males only emit their calls during or just after heavy rains in the tropical setting making it challenging to pinpoint their location.
