Proverbs 27:6 — “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”
In these turbulent days of June-July 2026, this verse cuts to the heart of the crisis in the Church. As the SSPX prepares to consecrate new bishops without papal mandate — an act certain to bring canonical penalties and deepen divisions — we see the cost of fidelity.
True friends of the Church deliver painful but honest correction: defending the unchanging Faith, the Traditional Latin Mass, and apostolic Tradition against dilution. These “wounds” may sting, but they preserve souls. Meanwhile, gestures of dialogue, “inclusion,” and synodal unity from Rome can feel like the enemy’s kisses — flattering assurances that mask compromise with post-conciliar novelties and demand silence on error. 
Pray for the Church. Cling to Tradition. Discern by fruits, not appearances. Our Lord purifies His Bride through trials — may we have the courage of saints who chose faithful wounds over false peace.
“Wounds from a friend can be trusted…” May God grant us clarity and fortitude.
