Minho had noticed things in the time they were together, little signs that Hannie wasn't telling him the whole truth. Things like doors sliding open automatically a moment before they should have, or the smaller man directing them to leave a certain spot moments before a fight broke out. He kept his eyes cast down most of the time, making himself smaller in the hopes of avoiding notice. He also always fidgeted with his necklace that had some kind of green-tinted crystal tied on it, the only thing of value he owned that he kept close to his heart, running his fingers across it like he could recapture the memories contained within. Minho had learned a long time ago to keep his mouth shut and not ask too many questions, he knew abilities of those kind only meant one thing.
Here and now, they peeked around an alley corner, making sure the coast was clear before moving on, clasped hands holding to each other tightly like they were afraid the other would disappear. The pathway they took was eerily quiet, the only sounds breaking it the droning hum of the ventilation overhead and their quiet footsteps as they raced to the nearest transport hub, breaths mingling in anticipation. It had taken them months, combined with a lot of things they weren't proud of, but they had finally scrounged up enough money to afford a transport off-world, taking them both from this forsaken place to start over on a new planet, far far away.
They had met under curious circumstances, Minho had been minding his own business when he felt the telltale signs of being pickpocketed, whirling around and grabbing the offender's wrist before they could run. Jaw going slack when he was met with the most expressive eyes he had ever seen, so dark they looked like they could reflect the light of twin suns. Since that fateful moment they had become inseparable, depending on each other for protection and resources in a place it was so hard to find under the so-called "peaceful" regime.
He felt Hannie freeze behind him moments before they heard shouts and a siren, questioning why they were out past curfew. Min swore before breaking out into a run, pulling them down tighter corridors to hopefully throw off the troopers. He had learned about using shadows to help himself disappear over the years of being a on his own, of which here in the lower levels of Coruscant there was no short supply. They made turn after turn, pure panic taking over any and all rational thought.
We can't let them stop us now, not when we're this close to being free.
He swore again when they were met with a dead-end, a tall chain link fence halting their progress. Left with no other options, he pulled the boy ahead of him, giving him a boost to clamber over the fence.
"Go on ahead without me, I'll double-back and throw them off."
"No, I'm not leaving without you," Hannie's eyes already starting to shine with tears.
The shouts grew closer by the second, now combined with the warble of a probe droid looking to track them.
"Hey, this isn't goodbye, bug, I'll meet you at the docking bay" he said with a wink to try to put him at ease, "promise. You remember the number?"
"Yes," Hannie broke through his sniffles, "promise?" They linked their pinkies together out of habit, hesitating just a split second before crashing their lips together, pouring all the love and desperation they could into that singular moment. They kept their foreheads touched together when broken apart, taking in the memory of each other for just a few extra precious seconds.
"Here. Take this with you." Han pulled off his necklace with the crystal and shoved it into his hands, leaving no room for argument. "It'll protect you, and help you find your way back to me."
Minho smiled slightly, not fully believing it but wanting to, he said "Go, Hannie. I'll see you soon."

His soulmate took one second longer to take in his features before tearing his gaze away, squaring his shoulders and steeling his gaze as he blinked his tears away. Min did the same, stopping when he heard a small and quiet, "May the Force be with you, Minho", he whirled around, but Han was already gone. He started running again, this time in the direction of the sirens, the crystal around his neck feeling like a lead weight.
