heya,, dyou& have any tips on changing hosts while “closeted” as a system,,? (closeted is the closest word we can find) the host change is kinda needed bc our current host isn’t doin’ the best with it atm, but we’ve got doubts about bein’ too different from our current host that it’ll be too noticeable. sorry if we bothered ya& (aesthete association)
changing hosts can be a rlly weird experience, so keep these in mind:
1. unless a singlet is very knowlegable abt plurality and already suspects you, they wont notice much. and even if they know a ton they probably wont notice much. for most singlets, plurality is the rainbow shooting unicorn in the horse stable thats also partially invisible, so dont be extra-super-worried that yall will get called out for being a system specifically
2. singletsonas help here a lot. sit down and try and write down traits from the host or general things other people associate with you&, and that will help a ton w not contradicting anyone else too much. work out what traits are managable, what can be explained away ect. a lot of likes and dislikes can be waved away as "growing out of it" ect ect. this can also help the entire system mask since everyone has a agreed set of traits and stuff.
3. for stuff you cant switch randomly but dont want to keep, you can try to fake a slow change, like a random example, alter a the former host hates this one anime that alter b loves. alter b becomes the host, and instead of suddenly switching, they pretend to "try it out" and become a fan. ofc this is kinda complicated but can help if you live w detail oriented folks or whatever
4. being defensive or just going "idk lol" and shrugging is suprisingly helpful
5. for the new host, trying to make sure you know what needs to be done outside and can do it, or get the help needed makes a ton of things a lot easier
tldr, since yall know a host change is coming up you get a nice chance to make sure as little as possible is a suprise! plan what you need, talk to each other and try not to stress out too much. changing hosts can be difficult, make sure you& practice some good ol self care, and i wish yall nothing but luck!
