Casual Talks
Wedged between the Celtic History section and Samhain Rituals, enclosed by an invisible voice muffling barrier, two boys casually leaned against the bookshelves chatting lightly as if talking about the weather.
“I’m telling you Riddle, the possibilities of cauldrons in rebirth rituals are endless. Just think about it. The cauldron is known as the source of awen to the ancient druids, awen being the source of the soul, of magic, of life, and also being a link to the underworld which is the realm of the dead. You could theoretically use a cauldron to be a container for such a substance; like magic. Therefore, when transferring magic from one person to the next you’d be able to store the magic temporarily in the cauldron; keeping it from escaping back into the natural world. Then, you could create a potion or even just submerge the body into the liquid magic and they would absorb the magic and their magical core would strengthen. You could literally bottle magic and give it to others to become stronger. Take from the weak and give to the strong to preserve the bloodline heritages. I bet, no doubt, that old bloodline abilities would return more prominent than ever. We’d have more seers, more metamorphmagi, even things like parseltongue could be reintroduced!”
Thorley could literally talk for hours about the wonders of cauldrons, but he knew that although Tom had a great deal of patience when it came to listening to Thorley’s theories, his patience wasn’t endless. Therefore, he tried to be as short and concise with his ideas as he could; but usually the excitement of the subject got the better of him. He liked the attention that Tom gave him. It made his ideas feel valued and he felt completely understood by the other; much better than talking to a brick wall like he used to do. Thorley just knew by Tom’s thoughtful responses that the other actually understood what he was talking about. An equal to Thorley’s genius. He didn’t feel so alone on top of the mountain.
