“As much as I wish I could say I was surprised to see you here, Tony...I’m not.” She leaned against the table where he was sitting. “I knew that you’d be attracted to all the trouble.” Lois was only teasing—after she had spent almost two months with him, writing a feature for the New York Times magazine that had gotten her the first real attention she’d had as a journalist, they had built an easy rapport and a friendship that Lois actually ended up valuing over some of her older relationships. There was a level of understanding between them that just felt natural—even if he was acting like a little shit half the time.

Gwen was eating an apple as she walked up behind Tony, looking down at his work with a critical eye for a moment before she pointed out a flaw in his calculations. “This should be the change in X, not the change in Y,” she said absentmindedly as she pointed out a part of a large equation in front of them. She took another bite of her apple before she spoke with a full mouth. “If X is going to be heat transferred, that’s what’s going to make the difference here,” she added before she took a step back and hopped up to sit on a high shelf, kicking her legs lightly. “Food for thought or whatever.”

53. “What the fuck.”
Kent had a book open in one hand as he wandered the halls of the mansion. He didn’t live there—he lived elsewhere in town, considering that being a legitimate part of the year 1973 afforded him that freedom—but he liked to be there, as if he could pretend that he was one of them. Hint: he wasn’t. He didn’t know how to interact with others. He didn’t know what he thought of them, and that was made especially apparent as he stopped short, seeing some strange contraption in the hallway. “What the fuck.” It wasn’t an exclamation but a statement, deadpan as usual.

When the head of attendance at your school has the name T.Stark, and everytime you get an absentee letter you think Tony Stark has sent you a love letter.
