those long eyes is honestly so so good and kinda underrated

the ocean as a metaphor for yearning my absolute beloved

“Haunt your heart” Alfred haunts her even while he’s still alive. “Haunt your heart no more” for this brief moment when they get to dance together

“Watch the waves reach” aka watch Alice reach for Alfred but never quite close the space between them

“Let the sorrow dance” guys I literally can’t their doom overshadows them even in this moment of happiness

“Those long eyes” literally meaning “those longing eyes”. I firmly believe this refers to Alfred’s eyes - could also be a reference to his whole face looking ill. Tabatha calling Alfred out. “His hard shell” - his tough exterior pretending he doesn’t need Alice to try and save them both the pain - but he’s longing for her as well

“Let’s waltz all night” ok now I’m violently ill

“Ignore the tide” Alice trying to stop a force dragging them apart that physically cannot be stopped
