I made a thing!

I have short arms and a big bust, so a 20" wide Schact Flip is a lot for me to manage comfortably. It did take a bit for me to get the weft snugged up well, and the edges are still giving me fits - but I got so much better at it by the end. I even sorted out a broken warp thread (I'm using my handspun for this, and I'm good but not perfect).

I want to try clasped weft, I have seen some lovely examples and it does seem fairly straightforward (I'm probably naive as hell here, as I also think clasped warp seems simple too).

This was a test - tomorrow I plan on warping 16" wide, and I don't know how much longer (I need to measure how much loom waste I wound up with, and factor that into my math.)

Guess which glutton for punishment started not one but two scarves on the same loom simultaneously?? Will it work? Who knows! Stay tuned.if it does, this is a hell of a way to use up yarns. Had under 200g of the blue (left), and 50 g of the blue (right), one whole shuttle of the shhh! In the pastel rainbow shade for the left weft and under 25 g each of three differing shades of sidar’s soft spun for the right weft

Local artist crazy: weaves four scarves in the same yarn in just under month and plans more to follow! She cannot be stopped!!! 🌈

Nobody’s bought the house so I’m allowed the loom back out of storage. Time to do the last few Christmas presents!

Well

So far I have failed at updating on any social media that you can possibly imagine. So I guess I decided to update /some/ my work on Tumblr because writing random stuff then slapping on some photos without explaining too much is just simple enough for me.

This is a scarf I'm working on right now! This is my first warped anything, first I started doing some test fabrics and then I cut it off and started with a /real/ thing that someone could wear.

I abandoned this for a few weeks because of other things, but hopefully I will get back to it soon enough.
