About two pages into the example scenario for Silk & Dagger thinking "this had better not fucking be what I think it is".
Silk & Dagger: A Sensible Drow RPG is a Eureka-like game. To use a video game dev term, you could say that Silk & Dagger “runs on the Eureka engine.”
This means that if you’ve played Eureka, a lot of concepts in Silk & Dagger will seem familiar. PC mechanics are made up of Skills and Traits, the Skills range from -3 to +3 and they have to add up to 0, Traits are elements of the PC’s personality translated into abilities, dice rolls give points they build up into a sort or useful metacurrency, etc.
There’s also, obviously, a lot different. Silk & Dagger couldn’t just be a reskin, it’s its own thing.
Silk & Dagger can feature some light investigation elements, but it isn’t about investigation. It’s about doing chores and dealing with other crises while doing chores. It’s about having navigating labyrinthine social expectations and the tremendous gulf between social classes that make everything harder for both parties, while doing chores.
There’s a lot of chores.
FACT: Standard size Dragon Bagons can comfortably hoard 100 standard dice (but they will usually attempt to hoard more)
