Welp. It's in. Time for a PICC me up ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Originally they wanted to put the PICC line in my right arm, but then to my great embarassment I quietly and suddenly burst into tears at the prospect (one of my obessessions deals with needing things to be on my left. I've been that way as long as I can rememeber. The fact that knives typically go to the right of the place setting makes my skin crawl. OCD is a blast 👍). Luckily they were very understanding and arranged for the switch.
My seemingly-sporadic lidocaine resistance came into play so they had to repeat the injections once before starting and once during and I still had more pain than expected. I assume that's a connective tissue disorder thing...
(CW: blood)
And then right before I left I sprung a leak, noticed blood dripping down my arm and soaked into my shirt and on the floor, so they had to get me flat, clean me up, pack this stuff around the sutures that kind of looks like red sand (or, if you're also a Marylander: like Old Bay), apply pressure, resanitize, and change my dressings. Then they very kindly helped me blot my jeans and shirt (not pictured) with hydrogen peroxide before the blood stains set.
I looked right at the nurse applying pressure to the site and said "well I just had to be difficult about it."
